Carolina Panthers - Potential cap casualties

You all are this high on Robinson? I have felt like he gets mauled in the run game for such a big guy. Certainly not worth 9.5 mil per.

Tremble is the only guy I would try to work out a deal with. Might be our best tight end currently (not saying a lot, but he has made plays)

He doesn't. He is also one of the extremely few effective pass rushers.

Tremble is as JAG as JAG gets.

A’Shawn is alright with me. Asset.
I suspect they could renegotiate with Tremble but I probably wouldn’t say that if Sanders had been decent.  We would be thin.

Evans is very cheap and arguably as good as Tremble. Sanders is a bust.

If Tremble is very cheap, no issue with a resigning. Still need an upgrade, though.

Just don’t downgrade. I am not fan attached to Tremble but we are thin in that room now.

He’s okay….but that’s still a pretty high cap number. He only had 2.5 sacks, and  was 35th in hurries. He’s good at batted passes at 3 which is 13th best but all his stats were basically down year over year. He’s still good at run defense, and I honestly think he’s a good locker room presence, and would be happy with a 1 year extension at a lower salary to level it out. I also would not be surprised if they decide they could use that 9.5 million to upgrade another position group, or use that money to help get a higher profile FA like a top tier LB, OLB, DE, or speed WR

Look, am I gonna be super upset at him being cut? No. But he has been one of the extremely few solid players on our front seven. That ain't worth a raise or a long term extension but it's probably worth not tinkering with when there are significantly more overpaid players on that side of the ball(Wharton, Brown, etc).

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
