2026 Charlotte Hornets

Recommended Posts

I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.

Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).

2 back of Orlando and Miami

2.5 back of Philadelphia

We play Orlando once

Miami twice

Philly once

The 6th seed is totally within reach.

Edited to add this tidbit

Since the start of 2026, the hornets net is 11.1, not only is that's tops in the NBAnfor the current season... It would be 8th all time in NBA history.

1st in offrtg at 121.8

5th in defrtg at 110.7

Yeah the bench last night was awesome.  There was times we had all three rookies on the court and you have to love that.  Kaulk is getting better and learning how to use his size.  Sion had a game.  Grant and Green have been so great coming in.  I really like this team.  The only player that gives me pause is when we have Tre Mann out there but should be limited if Colby can keep playing.

And Moose is such a fan favorite.  Dude plays so hard.  Obviously Miller/Kon/Melo are our scorers but I feel Moose is the heart of the team and gets everyone fired up.  The hive looked rocking last night too.

Hot take, they have the most talented roster in the east. If not the most talented it's 100% the most desirable for the future

LaMelo, Miller, Kon is easily the best young core in the East to build around. Key is just staying healthy.

I know bunch don't like him which is understandable but hell even Bridges is only 27 with 5-6 years of prime play left.

Ball - 24

Diabate - 24

Kalkbrenner - 24

Miller - 23

James - 23

Salaun - 20

Knueppel - 20

That's a lot of damn youth plus all the draft picks the next 7 years.

Coby White just turned 26 in February. The plan is to sign him to a new deal this offseason from what I’ve read.

Even Grant Williams (27), Josh Green (25), and Tre Mann (24) are young and in their prime…and all 3 are signed through at least next season.  Although I would like to see a couple of them packaged with a pick this offseason for another young piece at the BIG positions.

It’s almost as if this Front Office knows what they are doing and has a PLAN.

👀👀 Looking at you, MJ 👀 👀

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
