#Panthers Jaelan Phillips: four years, $120 million, $80M gtd, $60M fully gtd, $20M inj gtd.
$35M signing bonus
APY: $30M
Salaries $1.215M, $22.51M, $28.75M, $28.75M

Brand Tillis......he's either a genius or someone we will loathe in 3 years when all these salaries come to roost and he's a GM somewhere else.

I choose to believe he's a genius for now.

That 20m injury is guaranteed for all intents and purposes as it hits next off-season for 2028 salary. If he's on the roster for 2027, he gets the extra 20m of salary guarantees for the 2028 season.

Considering his dead cap for 2027 is 50m, he'll be on the roster to get the full guarantee switch.

Otherwise the guaranteed money is in 2026 and 2027 salary plus signing bonus.

Can be cut with cap savings after 3 years to what essentially could be a 3 year 81m dollar deal. (He's got a cap hit of 38.75m in 2027 and 2028.)

Mike Kaye replying to above post:

”If he plays well next year, they will almost certainly restructure to open up cap and push down the cap number.

His contract becomes guaranteed for Year 3 early in Year 2 unless he essentially bombs.

I think 3 years, $90 million is the deal, which will almost certainly be reworked if successful. If it doesn’t, pretty notable gamble (let’s not kid glove this).

As with any deal there is nuance.”

That's not totally correct, because 20m of his salary for 2028 becomes fully guaranteed on the 15th of March in 2027. Those cut numbers for year 3 don't include that as part of the dead money, which it would be. After the 15th of next March, his dead cap hit for 2028 will be 37.5m.

I mean I guess they could theoretically cut him and have a dead cap hit of 37.5m and save 1m.... But I doubt it.
