Because if Bryce goes down, we're screwed no matter what.

And if Bryce goes down, it means we're probably replacing him next year anyways.

So why spend this kind of money on a backup who isn't going to help you win a lot of games, but is probably good enough to help you win just enough to not get a top pick in the draft.

Should have just drafted a mid round QB this year.  Bryce either proves he's the guy of the future and then we sign a real backup next year (unless the rookie can handle the job), or he shits the bed again and we give the rookie a shot to see if he can be the next Wilson or Purdy, and if not we draft a new QB next year.

Its not even that.  Its about them being scared to bring in another qb with a better skill set to push bryce

I feel the Pickett signing puts him on the hot seat, cause he's going with BY to save the Panthers and his job. I didn't believe he would find a non-threat QB and then sign them to some wasteful 4.5-7.5 dogshit deal.
