i got some bad news for you about the Panthers turf

I can not believe the new 800million non-sense upgrades doesn't include natural grass....... you still recall that soccer team wouldn't play on the field unless it was real grass and tepper did just that....then switched it back when they left, gotta have dem concerts as #1 priority....

I'll be for the new turf when they get Billy to do a stadium show once a year.

Until then it's the worst thing that's happened to Charlotte sports since Ray Woolridge.

He was 97th in run defense snaps for edges with  (134).

So that’s 25 mill per for essentially a pure pass rusher. Jesse Minter said the key to unlocking Oweh in La was giving him freedom as a pass rusher. I knew right there we weren’t signing him. Evero gives no freedom

Yeah I like Phillips better, just needs to stay healthy obviously.

respectfully i disagree

a draft pick is a dice roll

Phillips is a known excellent pash rusher who can defend the run and is only 26. chances like this happen so rarely

Agree.  I was speaking more to the "dollar to dollar" production being the crap shoot.

Meaning at $30 million a year, this guy better be a game changer / disrupter.  For that kind of money, he should be accounting for 15-18 sacks, 3-5 turnovers, and 2-3 touchdowns each season.

A draft pick, while not tested at this level yet, also isn't eating up a massive portion of our salary cap which we will probably need next year when replacing Bryce.

fair

I agree 30 mill is a sticker shock but come next year when pass rushers are getting 35 mill a year his deal will look fine

Same thing happened with Jaycee and DB

MJ running the hornets has got to worse... and even George Shinn or Bob has to be....Jesus those are some awful "people". No wonder Charlotte sports are what they are after tossing in tepper...

Real grass is doable even with all the concerts. The hardest part of turf is doing any replacement of damaged turf and getting it to take root in time to be useable. Typical turf can take between 3-6 weeks depending on variety and weather conditions to really grab hold. Covering it for concerts and making sure it drains well enough to prevent ponding and soil deterioration are simple enough, relatively speaking.

The difference in the nitpicking is would you have to guarantee them $80m. Phillips could be elite but they paid him as if he already is. Huge gamble. I hope it pays off but this could blow up in the Panthers face and leave the defense starving for a pass rush and cash strapped too.

I believe the data points to EDGE defenders hitting their prime right at Phillip’s age.

is it?

are we signing Carter and Davis too?

Also "QB pressure" is kind of a squishy stat.

This feels like they're overcompensating after missing out on that DT on day one of FA last year.

Yes. 4th highest pass rush pressure rate behind Anderson Jr, Bonnito and Parsons clears the impressive bar to me.

The Carolina Panthers had a total of 82 hurries last season...Jaelan Phillips had 60…

  • Carolina's 2025 Struggles: The Panthers defense finished "dead last" in total pressures during the 2025 season. The entire team combined for only 82 quarterback hurries.

  • Phillips' 2025 Production: Between his time with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles, Phillips recorded 60 hurries individually, ranking him among the top 5 in the NFL for that metric.

    • No poo tho you might could Jenkins for Legette. They got nothing at WR after the big 2 in Cincy. I don’t think you trade away OL depth. Could get a quality player in cuts. Really that 3-4 end spot what you should be looking for is someone who is stout with long arms and can push back the OL in both the run and pass game for others to make plays…. But we signed Wharton, sometimes I think Evero is a fraud ass nerd who should be an analyst at best.
    • you would honestly probably do Monroe Freeling more of a disservice by putting him in a position where is not yet ready to succeed. .we all knew Monroe Freeling struggled at the NFL combine in drills because of technique related issues & would need time to develop  & now all of a sudden before they even put the pads on Monroe Freeling is somehow a starting LT in the NFL ? if he struggled at the NFL scouting combine what do you actually think is going to happen in a live NFL game at LT ? .even our best LT of all time was not ready to start at LT when he was a rookie & he turned out to be a pretty good darn LT by the name of Jordan Gross ...just saying be patient Young Jedis
    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
