This is the best plan. Convince me otherwise

Banks is such an enigma, he could be a steal at 19 due to his potential. Or he could be a 325 pound injury prone bust who rarely plays. Dude had one great year in 2024 and has been injured since. Personally I just don’t think you take a risk like that in round 1 especially in a year where we have made clear investments into the defense and nailing one more piece could be the difference between a good and great defense.  Give me Kayden McDonald over Banks he might have a lower ceiling but he is a true Junior and one of the best run defending DT’s I’ve personally ever watched.

I like McDonald but I feel like 19 may be too high. Though it could end up like when we picked Star at pick 14 since as you said McDonald is a pretty good DT.

I hear ya, but... there really isn't a whole lot out there right now that is any better. At least not that I can see. Unless staff sees Ransom as being able to switch to more of a FS role, I'm pretty sure we draft a starter and Scott is the back up. Also, I see him as a solid backup.

Nick Scott isn't the best they can do. He's a decent backup but they need to upgrade there. This team seems to have a historical aversion to a ballhawking safety.

Believe me, I want Scott starting like I want a kick in the nuts, but who's available that's better? Kyle Dugger and Donovan Wilson are SS. Jamie Ward and Harrison Smith are 35 and 37. We could bring back Xavier Woods but that didn't go so well last time.

The FA market is dry! That's why I think we actually go against our aversion this year and draft a FS on day 1 or 2.

Unless they think Ransom can make the switch from SS to FS in year 2 but I don't really think that's the answer either.

Yea the free agent situation isn't great. If Michael Taaffe is there in the 4th round they absolutely need to draft him.

If Thieneman is still available at 15-16, I wouldn’t mind if we traded up for him.

Outside of rounds 1-4 we have two 5ths and a 6th. What are we trading up with? And when was the last time trading up in the first worked out spectacularly for us?

Safety would suprise me with Ransom and Isaiah Simmons on the roster.  If they can't beat out NIck Scott, that speaks volumes.

If they don't go BPA, OL seems to be the biggest need with injuries that always seem to plague this position group.

Would jumping two spots be that costly? Maybe one of the 5th round picks or a 4th.

19 is valued at 875.

16 @ 1000

Our higher 5th round pick is @ 28.2

It would take our 3rd to really do anything with.

Maybe the 4th plus a 5th. (Not really though, it only gets us to 17 ahead of Minnesota).

I went to the same chart. Sounds about right.

Too much for me. I completely understand the allure with trading up and getting those butterflies but do we want to actually build a long term contender here? Then we need to compile picks and focus on actually drafting quality talent in the later rounds. That's the only path forward for a franchise such as ours.
