Draft Week Rumors, Leaks and Media Draftniks Final Mocks

Recommended Posts

Let's tighten this up.  Instead of a new thread about certain news, rumors and mocks by media types leading up to Thursday's draft, capture it all here.

So Klatt, Simms and McShay most recent mocks (literally all this morning) have us taking Sadiq. Thoughts? I hate it.

Kiper, who sucks, says the safety out of Toledo.

Also, Trent Williams re-signed with the 49ers.

We are not drafting Sadiq.  We have literally shown no interest in him

Maybe this is the year Morgan breaks his trend. I really hope not.  Other teams draft guys they did not meet with over the spring, yes, even in the first round.

Why wouldn't they at least talk to him?   It doesn't make any sense

I like Sadiq, I like the personality here as well. Idaho guy. I’m not sure if it’s the best selection-I actually worry that his ability as a route runner needs work. He’s mainly just winning on athleticism. But he’s terrific with the ball in his hands and it’s not often you have a piece like that you can throw the old backside screen to and reel off 20 yards.

his blocking doesn’t concern me. He’s technically sound, strong. You line him up off ball in 12 and let Mitchell Evans do the dirty work while he pulls to pick up a linebacker or nosey corner. He’s plus at that on the tape (what little there is of it anyways, I miss draftbreakdown(?))

he develops as a route runner and he’ll be excellent. I just wonder if there’s a more plug and play weapon like Cooper or Concepcion or a better long term play at OT. But I like Sadiq plenty.

draft Sadiq as a WR and then grab Delp as the TE.   Trade legette for a washing machine.

Lol, if we are doing that, we would be very stupid. Sadiq would be the equivalent of drafting somebody like Zachariah Branch (minus his arrest issues from a couple days ago) - a dude with elite level speed that has no route tree. And Branch (prior to the arrest) was a fringe 2nd rounder, likely 3rd rounder.

Drafting Sadiq in the 1st round means you think he can flex between inline and slot TE and be great at both. If you don't think he can make it as an inline TE in some capacity (which is what I think), you aren't drafting him in the 1st.

I will be extremely shocked if we draft Sadiq. Canales has shown he likes inline tight ends that can block, and I'm confident in saying that is not Sadiq

This is a consensus mock.  So 36% of all mocks this site collected have us taking Sadiq.  For reference, that's the highest percentage of any selection past #18. I get it, our trend is to talk to and/or bring in for a visit guys we think we are going to daft.  I really, really, hope Morgan sticks to his trend.

Thienemen or McDonald for me.  I can understand WR but wouldn't be thrilled.  TE really makes no sense with Bryce at the helm

I like Thieneman, but don't think he makes it to 19. I like McDonald's elite run stopping ability, but his lack of pass rush makes it hard to justify taking him with pick 19. Would be all for trading down to like 30 and taking him there

People are mocking him to us solely because we don't have any good tight ends on our team without recognizing that he does not fit Canales' scheme one bit. We will look at inline tight ends like Delp, Raridon, or Roush most likely if we draft TE.

I will be shocked if Sadiq is our pick.

Thieneman to the Vikings, just ahead of us, is one of the most recent viral trends in mocks. If he's our target, and he's on the board leading up to the late teens, we likely will have to leapfrog the Vikings.

Likely will have to leapfrog the Vikings for him. But I also wouldn't be shocked if he is taken earlier than that. I feel like his draft stock has soared the most among 1st round picks (outside of Styles)

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
