He had one of the worst on-field combine drill workouts I’ve ever seen. He was the only lineman who kept falling over himself drill in, drill out. It was bizarre. His tape is pretty solid though. I was hoping for  Max Iheanachor if we went OT .Props to Canales with the smoke screen at the NFL Coach meetings though.

Ugh, I really hope that’s not the case. I haven’t watched the last two combines but I remember Little’s combine workout and his position drills were awful as well. You could tell Little had no movement skills at all and that absolutely translated into his reaching and falling down.

I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that he had terrible positional drills and it really makes me disappointed in this pick and a small hope that he proves us wrong.

Which makes the complaints about him being a bad pick because he ain’t start a bit silly. OL is heavy rotation position. He will probably have at least 500 snaps by the end of the season.

AND...if people saw my post (besides you most likely), the value has to make sense.  Safetys generally DONT get paid, and because of that, 2nd and 3rd contracts are much higher than rookies.  IF Freeling pans out, then your talking about a contract significantly under what a decent OT costs, IF a Safety is just alright, then his rookie contract and 2nd contract are similar to rookie pay scales. Hell, Look at what we signed Devon Lloyd for and THAT was an ELITE rookie contract LB.

A rookie shouldn’t beat out the vet we paid to buy time while icky heals and the rookie learns. We needed depth at tackle and help on the OL.

it was a must honestly.

We paid the vet 4 million dollars when he was supposedly the #1 FA tackle this cycle

People hung up on Safety need to think about if they would rather have Nick Scott playing safety or Stone Forsyth starting at Tackle because we would have been 1 injury away from that.

OL is heavy rotation? No it isn’t. It’s not DL. We went to the SB because our OL was healthy all year and Atlanta went to the SB the next year in part because their OL had no injuries.

OLs that are solid will have a few guys who play almost every snap in the season. You can have a swing tackle come in for jumbo packages but OL is absolutely not a heavy rotation position. You want your OL starting five to play every snap and backup OL play only in case of injury or as OL 6+ in jumbo packages.

Yeah I have high expectations for a guy we took over our pro bowler safety (Thieneman) and a pro bowl receiver (lemon)

That’s a lot of guarantees in that statement.

in terms of need OT talent was priority. We need to score more points and you do that by building in the trenches.. I’m always big on SEC lineman on both sides of the ball. Big guys just win there. Especially when they’re athletic like this guy looks on film.

none of us will know who is what without retrospect
