I know there is one to get the roster to 53, but the way i understand it, they cannot exceed 90.  I am guessing they have not contacted the players yet, and it will be announced any time.  This is, of course, assuming that my assumption that we went over the limit is correct.

And then there is the international player provision, and one site had the UDFAs listed and noted that a couple are from Canada--whatever that means.

I think international players do not count against the 90 man limit. The Panthers have had several over the years. They will however count as part of the 53 if kept after final cuts.

They will not be able to stash him on the practice squad.

I hope they don't Matt Corral him and only give him like 2 reps at the end of each practice. He's talented but he needs some reps at the NFL level unless they just want him to be a gadget guy

Hes got a funky throwing motion and just isnt accurate so I think gadget guy is his only path even then he is still a bit small for that

Can't you protect 4 players on PS?

I maybe wrong, I think its 2 players and you can only protect them from the team your playing that week or some weird rule. I maybe off and I know it changed some. I still recall when that rule first happen, the pats would not protect any player, cause bill thought if teams knows we value these guys the most, teams would sign them.

It also maybe only 4 weeks you can use the "protect" label. I honestly don't know the current wording, it has changed.

Having Chris Weinke as a coach at GT probably didn't help things lol. I think he did get a good QB coach this offseason though.

You can protect up to 4 per week but they can't be protected forever. So at some point, they have to come off the list which means if we keep him, he'll likely need to be on the 53.

I think you can only protect them from Wednesday til GameDay. I think they are free to sign mon-tuesday. Of course this changes if they are Monday night or Thursday night game....

Being that no other backup has more  than 1 year, you are right! This is an investment  worth putting time in.

    • One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.
    • I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.” I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.
    • So much crying. Tiresome. All of you should have had enough time to come to terms with the team picking up his 5th year...
