Bryce Young 5th year option exercised

No surprise really. I’m more worried about what we do after. I don’t want us to give him a big contract after his 5th year if he end up being mediocre. If he continues to improve and plays well then I’m fine giving him an extension but not until. I think this upcoming season is the season we decide if he’s going to be our future or not.

Don't see how anyone could have a problem with this, whatsoever.

It's Bryce's final chance to earn a long-term deal, and gives the Panthers FO a chance to see how he handles it and whether he can finally have sustained success over a full season.

See, there is doubt about the finality of it. Every year a small incremental improvement seems to be enough.

Maybe a little bit. Whoever wins the backup job is a slight upgrade from Dalton. King will need to prove he's worth a roster spot going forward but I doubt he's a threat to anyone on the roster this season.

Not saying they will succeed but Pickett and King are definitely hungrier for NFL jobs than Dalton at this point. Not saying we couldn't have done a better job adding to the qb room but at least it got younger.

If he doesn't have close to an MVP level season, then there is no way we can hand him a huge long term contract. If things stay as they are 2027 should be loaded with QBs. If not we have Pickett and Haynes King to hold us over. It scares me to offer Bryce a huge contract

Oh yeah makes sense to be afraid of a Daniel's/Giant situation. I want him to either clearly play his way into that or not. Big difference in 25 million and 50+

That is a lot of wasted money. Which I could be bad at my job and get a raise.

It makes no sense I see all these articles saying if byoung keeps improving and I am wondering what improvement.  His total tds were up for this past year, but his y/g 179.9 171.6 188.2 basically a flat line especailly if you remove his outlier games.  His QBR 34.1 50.7 47.6 actually went down ; his y/a 5.5 6.3 6.3 no improvement .  Basically every single stat shows he is exactly who he has been since entering the nfl a bottom of the league qb.
