Boooo....

Damn dude been on like 4yrs straight of prove it yrs and we still don't know what he has on a consistent bases..

He has looked like trash more games then a franchise QB and also is still the smallest QB in the NFL

Cam played 9 season in Car and is a legend. Young going into yr 5 still looking for a winning season and something to say he even close to starter material

Pretty much. Worst case scenario is we burn $26M for a backup in 2027.

I feel like I already know Young isn’t the guy to bring us deep in the playoffs but the team wants to confirm. Rather than signing a huge extension, we’ve got a 2 year review. We should know after 2026 but the 2027 draft may not go the way we want so at least we’ve got a QB for 2 years.

There are at least 14 qbs that make over $40 mill this year including such hof like Daniel Jones, DeShaun Watson and Brock Purdy.

Bad qb decisions crippled the fins and cards.

The Seahawks just won it all with a qb we discarded in Sam darnold.

Qb is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

This decision was inevitable and gives the panthers 2 more years to (Hopefully) not make the same mistake others have concerning the qb position

Or 26m for a bridge QB or this also leaves the opportunity to trade

This is disappointing. I was hoping we'd be smart and just let him play on the last year of his contract. Giving a 5th year extension to a QB that hasn't had 2 franchise QB performances back to back in 3 years makes zero sense. At some point Bryce has to feel the pressure to perform or know he's gone.

I want to believe Dan is going to be a really good GM. poo like this makes me think otherwise.

I'm basically back to the hope that Bain snaps him in half.

Clearly our GM is never going to upset the owner and move away from Young at this point.

During the draft process it was said over and over that Arizona doesnt have a starting QB. Brissett started 12 games. He technically played in 2 others taking a single snap in 1 and 3 in the other. If we take his stats from those 12 starts and average it out for 16 to match Bryce's number his output would have been

4488 yards 30 TDs and 11 ints.

Now if all the "experts" don't consider that starter worthy how can Bryce's 3011 yards, 23 TDs and 11 int be starter worthy enough to lock in for 2 more years?

    • Really? You don't see why a team can't draft a QB in the 1st round while then starting their former #1 overall pick over them while on the last year of their deal? It puts the team in a TERRIBLE place no matter how the season goes.  If Bryce sucks, you have to answer questions as to why he was still on the team to begin with, let alone starting over the rookie.  If he's good, then you run into the situation the Vikings were in last offseason with sticking with the rookie contract or the the guy who just performed instead of said young QB. It's one thing when teams keep a vet around as a bridge QB, it's something entirely different when that QB is still only in their mid 20's and was taken #1 overall by that team.   That just doesn't happen and not sure it ever has in NFL history before.
    • What is the alternative? - BY, will not play for less then his perceived contract (just like Cam Newton did). So you pay him top of market as befitting a 1st round, Heisman winning, playing birthing QB would get. Or you cut him. - Then we are forced to either sign a stop gap QB / previously failed QB and try to fix him or you spend a 1st round pick and draft a guy, basically resetting the team.  The reality is that we all want a top 5 QB. The problem is there are only 5 of those guys in the world and drafting, even #1 overall doesn't guarantee that.  The other problem is the NFL market. Young QB get paid. Even an average, young QB gets top of market deals. I know a lot of people here think we could sign him to an 'average QB contract' but thats not reality. Didnt happen with Cam wont happen with BY.  So we could let this season flush out and he is again a middling QB. But then we cut and restart or accept it is what it is (including compensation) and build a team around what we have.  My money is on the latter.
