Moton Meets the Press

Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup.

I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.

Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.

I had completely forgotten we had an RT named Daryl Williams when Moton got here.  That probably means he was pretty good.  Just not as good as Taylor.

Daryl Williams was actually pretty good before his knee injuries. I remember he dislocated his right patella and tore his MCL in camp in 2018, and he rushed to come back and played in week 1 versus the cowboys and some cowboy DE I think it was Demarcus Lawrence put his helmet straight into his already injured knee and it was a wrap for him after that as he never really got back to the level of player he was before the injury.

It was actually William's injury that had us sign veteran Chris Clark and since he was more comfortable at LT we moved Moton back to RT and it's been Moton's job ever since.

I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.”

I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.

One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.

This. Most NFL players (especially OL/DL) have chronic injury management that's just part of their routine.

He is icing his knees in-game. I wish I had marked where I saw that yesterday but one of the players was telliing the story. Thinking Moton was probably out for the day because he is on the bench with ice all around one knee, But he came back in.  He is playing through a lot of pain apparently but as was referenced up thread  it is something he can play with if he can deal with the pain.

Underrated Panthers legend. He has played his ass off during one of the worst eras in franchise history when there wasn't much to play for and has rarely gotten the recognition he deserves from the rest of the league.
