I want to sign him so the excuse can be removed if (when) our offense looks mediocre again.  Supposedly TE is the lone weak spot in our offense.

No matter who we pick up the excuses will be there. If the QB cant get the ball to the reciever because of his own deficiencies, then that reciever ia trash to the excusers

Where do NFL Tight Ends catch the most passes?  Underneath/Middle: Often referred to as "hidden" or "sheltered" passing roles, tight ends (specifically the "Y" position) settle into space, making them a consistent, reliable option for quarterbacks, especially with short-to-medium routes.

Young has historically ranked among the lowest in the NFL for the percentage of passes thrown over the middle. In 2024, only 13.3% of his passes were targeted at the middle of the field.

Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
