Mean girls

Personally, not being a girl in the 3rd grade, or at any time, I never knew that they were discussing NFL front offices and effective franchise ownership while in the school bathroom, but obviously this story tells it differently.

As terrible as Tepper is, it seems there could always be worse.

I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.

I think I am more pointing out the ridiculousness of the story, which is probably an attempt to make a woman running the team in a male-dominated sport a little more legitimate.

No one in 3rd grade was having those conversations.

A better establishment of being a serious and legitimate NFL owner is perhaps not making reckless trades, rather than concocting stories about how precocious and natural your business acumen and strong leadership skillset has been since elementary school.

I get what you're saying. In terms of our owner currently in comparison to the Colts owner the only positive development I've seen is he took a big hint and decreased his visibility in his public representation of the franchise. Whether or not he has actually pulled back behind the scenes will remain to be seen.

I think the only owners that Tepper outpaces, and it is very, very close, is Woody Johnson, Mike Brown and Jimmy Haslam. He is just behind Stephen Ross, who has actually done damage to his own team with tampering penalties, but has had slightly more success on the field.

I never thought Jim Irsay was that bad. Yes he hired Saturday to coach, and yes he liked to party probably too much (and knew how, he kept some top pro musicians employed for a lot of shows and parties, and had a massive and great guitar collection) but that team was good for years at a time. Yes he had top QBs I know, but he made the right pick when the time came to pick one.

Well I am - at least for now - glad we don’t have three daughters that inherited the team, running it like they are in Indy. Maybe they’ll be great but I am pretty skeptical.

He did some curious things but was mostly ok. It might have been the pills when they traded for Trent Richardson.

I forgot about that. That did go pretty poorly. Even if it wasn’t his idea, you know he signed off on it.
