i liked what i saw there, just like i liked what i saw in every game i watched him. ant at training camp.

even on the one missed gimme catch in the end zone in those highlights above he showed me something that can't be coached, and that is a short memory. quite a few players would have been bummed out that they had a chance to help their team take the lead in a crucial moment and blew it and they go pout. gettis got right back in there and made a great catch in coverage.

one thing that speed is going to do is take some of the heat downfield from smitty. he's a solid enough target that he's got to be respected and will require help over the top so it's going to help spread defenses thin.

it's all about the potential, though. he's got tons. he came in as a raw prospect without a lot of experience and did well for a rookie, esp. considering who was throwing him the ball.

Gettis' pure raw potential is really off the charts that's why everyone's so excited about him. The injury obviously makes his future clouded but you could tell the dude was on his way to being a good WR. He's got the mental drive to be great.

If Gettis is healthy, then our passing game is going to be hella fun to watch. Cam will be dropping bombs to Gettis and Smitty all day.

Ok Gettis was the fastest until he tore his knee that is. How fast and good will he be after coming off the torn knee. No one knows right now. Gettis could come back full speed and then again maybe not. Who knows until training camp and the first preseason begins. I hope the best for him.

Hopefully he understands millions of dollars are on the line for him to come back at full strength next season

He was a 400M specialist in track....his speed through 40 yards would probably hold up through longer distances....I doubt you'd see this guy get gassed at any distance he would ever have to run on a football field. It would be interesting to see his time for 100 yards in pads compared to other guys in the league.

cam was doing that superman thing well before gettis did it.

at any rate, alll this talk about who did it first is kind of silly. it's cam's trademark now and anyone doing it will be thinking of either the comic book superman or cam.

whoever started it, he owns it. if you don't like it...suck it.

It isn't hard to figure out. Here are our wide receiver comparisons from 2010 to 2011.

Smitty:

2010: 46 catches, 554 yards, 12 yards a catch and 2 TDs.

2011: 79 catches, 1394 yards, 17 yards a catch and 7 TDs

Lafell:

2010: 38 catches, 468 yards, 12.3 yards a catch and 1 TD

2011: 36 catches, 613 yards, 17 yards a catch and 3 TDs

Gettis:

2010: 37 catches, 508 yards, 13.7 yards a catch and 3 TDs

2011: on IR

But what do you notice?? Obviously Cam increased the yards per reception and number of TDs in 2011. Notice in 2010 Gettis had a better yards per reception than Smith or LaFell and more TDs as a function of catches.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying he would have surpassed Smitty this year or even gotten to 1000 yards but I think 700 yards and 5 TDs could have easily happened. If he got Nannee's 44 catches and put up the same numbers as Lafell he would have averaged:

44 catches, 748 yards, and 4 TDs.

That is pretty good potential to me.
