Manziel Not Impressing

Recommended Posts

Bridgewater was the most underrated QB in the draft in my opinion.   He is relatively slight for an NFL player, much less a QB.  The thing is I don't see him going RGIII. Bridgewater is a pocket passer to his heart.

you should try to hide your racism more, some posters are picking up on it.....ssshhhhhhhhh....

I confess. I hate the Irish and the British.

(not really, but as a Scot it's expected)

I thought I was Irish/Scottish based on my last name, recently I looked it up and I found out it's probably German/Dutch...

Browns spent $100,000 on an analytical study of quarterbacks that told them Bridgewater was the best in this year’s draft class. Think how furious the Browns owner will be if Bridgewater succeeds and Manziel fails.

CBS:

"Further fueling the Browns' interest in Bridgewater is an expensive and thorough analytics study the team commissioned evaluating decades of successful NFL quarterbacks and taking all sorts of variables into consideration, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. ...The quarterback study, at a cost of over $100,000, ultimately pointed to Bridgewater having the best success rate of this year's group of quarterbacks."

Business Insider:

the Browns "deserve some praise for spending the money on data to help them make an informed decision on who to pick. Now the question is whether or not they'll use it."

Pretty much.

I don't get the Manziel hate

yeah he can be cocky but Cam was viewed in the same light at this time and stage

I hope the Browns finally have found their answer because I kinda feel bad for them.

My favorite pizza place in Charlotte is a Browns hangout so I have had this discussion with the owner many times before.

I want someone to shake up the AFC North and I think Manziel is that person.

The Jets are in a very good spot. Not sure you're paying attention to them lately. I see them winning 11 games and make the playoffs. As of right now they have better weapons and OL than us and their defense is probably equal to ours.

Being coached by Rex Ryan isn't 'a good spot'.

There's going to be a circus around this guy at all times. My woman is from NE Ohio so I hear about all the Browns crap from her bro in laws and Uncles, etc.

A couple things I've noticed as a person from the outside looking in and really doesn't care if the Brownies win 12 games or 2 games:

1. the negative comments by the owner made a week or two ago about him and being a back up were idiotic and right off the bat you are drawing more negative attention to your team and potential franchise player. Stupid move by the owner.

2. Not allowing the national media in during the OTAS/mini camp or whatever it was I thought was a good move. Ease in the media circus and ESPN around the clock coverage. Just allowing the local guys to come helped them get their feet wet. The Browns (and a lot of it's players) are going to experience a lot of media coverage this year and they aren't used to it. It's easy for a lot of those guys to get in over their heads and same something stupid.

Sorry. Wrong.

There was a pretty extensive discussion - and defense - of Geno Smith prior to last year's draft. I'm a fan of his because I'm a big WVU homer. Sadly, he had the misfortune of going to the Jets, so who knows what'll happen there? I hope he succeeds, but that team is a dumpster fire.

RG3 has defenders on here too, though not as many. The general consensus is that he's a track guy playing football. Most believe his body won't take the pounding and he'll be out of the game after a relatively short career.

On the flipside, I'm not a fan of Manziel at all. I just know enough about football to be smarter than to make long term judgments based on a couple of days minicamp when a guy is a rookie.

I don't remember people here defending geno. There were maybe a couple of guys who tried their best to defend him but they were pretty much overwhelmed. They don't seem to post here lately. As for RG3, the hatred toward him is beyond reproach and they mostly pretend they're doing it for Cam to mask their motive. I can tell what this fan base is all about. Athletic is not the only thing that bring them here.

That's not true. The huddle wasn't pro Cam during the draft process. Stop using Cam as a Martyr. Cam's issues had a lot to do with race. Manziel doesn't have that problem.

Yes, Cam's "issues" has everything to do with race. That explains why the media latched onto Russell Wilson's and RG3's nuts immediately.

You somehow come off dumber with each and every post you make. That's pretty amazing. I would've thought you would've had to have bottomed out by now.

Wilcott says they Brownies will be running a read option and if so, then Manziel could handle it better than Hoyer I suppose

I suspect you remember things however you want them to be, so no shock

And I seriously doubt anybody here 'hates' RG3. They just don't think he's that good.

Maybe that's enough to constitute 'hate' in your mind, but most of us don't take it that seriously.

Manziel could be a good QB in the NFL, but his chances of doing so are greatly, greatly reduced by playing for the Cleveland Browns.  And no poo, a 6 year veteran (Hoyer) is performing better than a rookie?  WOW that is insightful.

I hope the best for the guy - he doesn't deserve to be castrated before he's even played a single game.  This is ridiculous.
