There is always somebody out there. Lets hope this move puts that stupid sentiment to bed.

A move like this early in the season indicates that the coaching staff, FO and ownership feel they can contend this year and want to shore up any weak points on the team to compete in January

THIS.

His contract

how much in cap space does carolina currently have this year?

From what I saw the 12.5 guaranteed this year, 11.5 is a roster bonus, which would have already been paid by the Bears (and so, they'd take the cap hit for it). All we would owe (and take a cap hit for) would be the 1 million base salary. Actually less now as he's already played 3 games. 13/16 of one million, whatever that is if anyone wants to break out a calculator.

2015 compensation for Allen will be $11.5 million from Bears; $823,000 from Panthers. Wonder if/how hard Chi tried to trade him in March.

His contract

That's wrong

The Bears paid him $11.5M as a roster bonus already. We are only on the hook for ~$850k this year which is guaranteed.

This is excellent news! Pass rush has been non existent and with CJ going down it was about to get downright ugly. No idea what he has left but costing us less than a mil and has to be better than everyone other than CJ.

Could be a good move. At the very least, a great veteran presence for guys like Ealy and Addison. They can learn a lot from someone like Allen.

there arent many good teams in the league this year and we are one of them. We should be going all in for the most prestigious super bowl yet.

Carolina Bears

More like Chicago Bears, Carolina's AAA farm team.

If only we could trade for Steve Smith next...

Why not Hardy and Pep while we're at it?
