Panthers Trade for Jared Allen

Recommended Posts

Gettleman, just go ahead and do it man. Bring up Cox from the practice squad...

Allen - Love - Short - Cox

Just do it!

Because everyone knows guys you trade for are no higher quality than unemployed players, right?

the trade pool has always been a part of that discussion by a great many posters here. If you had trouble comprehending that written text it's okay but don't grow an attitude once the reality sets in.

Bears mailing it in.  Even with Cutler they suck ass.  Nice to see Gettleman has their FO on speed-dial for when they are going down the crapper.  I can just imagine them taking his call, like "what the fug are you here to take now?"

Allen will bring some fire to that D-Line.  I don't care what he does or doesn't have left in the tank, maybe going from 0-3 to 3-0 overnight will rejuvenate his career and get the pass rush on point.  If Jameis is smart, he'll lube up good on Sunday.

With Short and Star at DT, Jared should make his presence felt.

This is the kind of low risk/high reward move everybody should be able to support.

Bears are expected to receive a conditional draft pick in exchange for Allen.

It's a conditional 6th round pick.  Probably moves up to a 5th if he balls out.

A move like this early in the season indicates that the coaching staff, FO and ownership feel they can contend this year and want to shore up any weak points on the team to compete in January

I partially agree, but we haven't done much to shore up the WR position. Kevin Norwood does not look like the answer (nor did I ever think he was).

Exactly what I was thinking.  He had decent DT's in Minn. when he was going off in the last 4 seasons he was with the Vikings, I'd feel that Star and Short are just as good, if not better then what he had in Minn.

Solid move for a player who only 2 years ago had double digit sacks. Once CJ comes back Ealy will see very little playing time. Too many stupid penalties.

Allen and CJ with Ealy and Addison as rotational is pretty solid...just hope to get CJ back before Thanksgiving.

Steve Smith will likely be traded at some point. The Ravens aren't making the playoffs and he's retiring. They'll trade him for whatever they can get around Nov/Dec.

Doubt it'll be back here but it would be funny.

Nov/Dec is after the trade deadline. He's not going anywhere though.

Looks like old Foxy did good by the Panthers, and/or he's looking out for JA.

Classy move if you ask me. They've already paid him $11.5 Mil. What's another $850k? They could have just buried him on the roster.
