Quarterback Possibilities for the Carolina Panthers

Recommended Posts

I believe he'll bounce back but unless he fixes his footwork it's gonna flare up again. I'm don't have much faith in that happening this late in the game so a successor should be on the radar. Quiet as its kept his QB coaches have done a piss poor job over the years.

Person confirms a mid-round pick is at least an option.

I heard rumors that the Panthers wanted Trevor Simion during the off-season.

He's available, but I don't know if he's going to come cheap.

Keep on eye on him for sure.

I honestly feel like our schedule next year could determine a couple of things...

  • Early BYE week, we grab a FA to help us survive until Week 5-6 or so. Let Cam come back on a shortened season and hope it holds up.
  • Late BYE week, try to get out to a great record early (oh I don't know, 6-2), and if Cam is feeling the same discomfort, sit him for a couple of weeks to rest (BYE and a game or two).  Let him come back and try to tough it out the last few weeks. Or sit him until the backup is beyond over his head.

Regardless, would love to see Cam as QB 1, Kyle Allen as QB 3, and a FA or draft pick as QB 2.  If the draft allows us to grab a guy we like at a reasonable price, start grooming him and have him ready to go after the preseason.

Not super into Grier at all. Would rather wait till 2020 if possible since we have so many needs at both lines.

Won’t matter whose throwing if we can’t protect them...

I saw Taylor in Cleveland.  No thanks.

Don’t see a ton of difference between Tua and Gaskins.  Not sure I like either but I’d give Gaskins the edge.

I'd prefer to look at his Buffalo and Baltimore career than Cleveland where QBs go to die. Mayfield is the exception, not the rule there.

I mean, thats true, but you also just described Drew Brees criticisms when drafted.

Who knows, kid could be bad or could be great. In the 3rd or 4th I would not mind finding out.

Montana had the same issues.

To all the weekend orthopedic surgeons on here chiming in and sharing expertise--understand this--his shoulder is diminished every time a surgeon has to go into it.  Scar tissue, arthritis, and the fact that no human can repair damaged tissue and not all healing returns a damaged joint to original form.

I heard that from an orthopedic surgeon after my second surgery, explaining to me why I was done.  And it was not my throwing arm--I was a Tight End.

All those cheap shots, dropping his shoulder to get a first down, stretching out the ball when diving for a TD---it all chips away.

So we cross our fingers, hope for a miraculous result, and plan for the worst.

I would still go the FA route. Cam is the QB of the Panthers. But, shoulder surgery is not good for QBs and violin players.

I like Will Grier, his accuracy far outweighs any arm strength questions, being a hometown kid is a plus. However, the offensive line needs to be in tip top shape before spending a top pick on a QB or else it’s going to be more of the same. I feel like those first four rounds needs to be offensive line and defensive line picks unless someone drops who is too good to pass up.

I’m fine with rolling with Allen, and bringing in someone like McCown to tutor him and hold the iPad. I’m also not against drafting someone like Minshew in the 6th and rolling with three QB’s as we have been going through QB’s like crazy over the past year.

But we should get a solid free agent , for example if the bengals cut dalton pick him up or even bottles
