Anyone watching Hard Knocks?

Recommended Posts

HBO is chatting with Alabama (and a few other colleges) about doing a one-week Hard Knocks on their program(s).  Hope 'bama signs up, would be interesting to see what they go through [more than the 60 Minutes Sports segment that aired a few years ago].

I've watched every season of the show, regardless of team, and I think it's entertaining- that's all it's supposed to be.

The show is one hour long covering a week of camp. For those of you who believe listening to and watching Gruden for 5 or 10 minutes over the course of a week gives you enough info to pass judgment, then so be it. You want some insight into a coach based on this show? Watch Brentson Buckner at work.

Yes, Hunter Renfrow gets some air time in episode 2, but -spoiler alert- none of it is on the field or with his helmet on, so don't get your hopes up.

Jonathan Abram... for those of you who think he's too cocky or mouthy, I suggest you go look at Mike Minter, Dante Wesley, Colin Branch, Chris Gamble and a couple other Panther DBs over the years and you'll see the same personality emerging very early for them, too. Abram is a 1st round pick who can hit, has decent ball skills and is not afraid to mix it up, which is half the reason Oakland drafted him.

Compare it to "All or Nothing?" How would you even do that? One is from week to the next and the other is a retrospective edited over several months of the season.

If you think Hard Knocks isn't to your liking now, watch what happens with an Alabama series. That promises to be nothing but boring. Saban won't let those kids talk and they'll be intimidated by the NCAA not to say anything that will cause problems.

Both have career winning records. Gruden has a winning post season record, Rivera does not. Gruden has a ring, Rivera does not. Gruden entering his 12th year as a head coach, Rivera heading into his 9th.

But if you're watching "Hard Knocks" depending on the head coach, that's probably not the best reason.
