That's not what the OP posted. He said:

"Tepper wants to win but we'll be luck if we can beat a good college team."

As in thinking a good college team would beat the yet to even be rostered 2020 Panthers.

Its a joke to say any college team ever would beat even the worst NFL team.

Which is why I pointed out the coach has never beat a “good” College team before.

Haha! I don't think even you are sure why you quoted me originally.

Keep in mind that Chip Kelly won some games in Philly and then just wanted to retool to his own team. We never got to see the finished product.  Phily messed up by not keeping some control IF they wanted to keep their team,.. and Chip messed up by not making it clear he was going to blow it up and wanted time to do that.

I have some insight as to their thinking behind giving Chip full control, because the owner of the Eagles (Jeff Lurie) did a lengthy interview on NFL Radio after the move was announced and he went into detail.  Basically there was typical friction between the existing front office people and Chip, with Chip claiming they couldn't get to the next level because of front office decisions holding him back.  So you either stay the course and keep up the bickering, or put all of your chips in the center of the table (pun intended).  Jeff said that if he kept the current structure in place, they might keep treading water like they were and Chip would always have an excuse.  But by giving Chip full control with no safeguards, he would be able to very quickly find out if Chip was the man for the job or not...and wouldn't hesitate to fire him and move on if things went south (which they did).

I think what Lurie did played out how he planned it.  Chip showed himself incompetent, and didn't have the front office as the scapegoat to blame anymore.  So he was gone quickly and the team moved on.

The only similarity between Rhule and Kelly is the both coached in college.

Kelly was touted as an offensive genius when he went to Philadelphia.  As often happens with college offensive geniuses in the NFL, they fail to adapt and double down on their system while the NFL DCs do adapt and figure out how to slow down or throttle their offensive system.  Too many are "one-trick ponies," and Kelly was that in Philly.

In fairness to Kelly and his ego, the 49ers were a disaster from top to bottom when he went there, so I won't hold that year against him.

To quote a line out of my namesake's show regarding Colonel Klink, Kelly "could have been great, except he wasn't very good."  He looks a lot like one of those guys who works out at the college level because players only have to tolerate him for 2-4 years.

I'd compare Kelly to Schiano in the effect he had on his teams.  I can't compare Rhule to anything yet.

I'm not sure if half the people here understand the word rebuilding. Most teams get gutted when they are rebuilt.

Coaching only goes so far in college.

Clemson alum and legacy saying this, Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban are crap coaches and only win because they out talent everyone else.

It's like putting NFL first round picks against undrafted college players.

A great comparison. Now I want to make an NFL All Time 1st round team vs an All Time rest of the league team to kill time
