Anyone else excited for Baseball?

Recommended Posts

No because Manfred is a cuck and destroying the game.

The Astros should be banned for the bullshit they pulled but they got a slap on the wrist.

No. I'm a sports fan. Baseball is a less athletic version of bowling.

The act of batting and hitting a baseball well (or fast-pitch softball in many ways the same) off of an MLB-level pitcher is, IMO and IME, the most difficult individual act in sports. Lots of things right behind it but nothing else quite as complex.

Yep. Love it. I prefer it over the NFL. It's huge here as well which is nice. The 60 game season is going to be nuts.

Wow, I can't believe all the hate for baseball. I absolutely love it, and of course I miss it. Baseball certainly has its own rhythms, but to call it boring is purely subjective, of course. From my perspective, baseball is full of drama and intensity. To be fair, I played it for a long time, but there is so much nuance and strategy to appreciate that I could never see it as boring.

I mean, I love football to obviously, but it's not all action all the time either. 3 hours can be condensed into 45 minutes or so. The rest is the same type of "standing around" those who don't like baseball complain about.

Yep baseball is something you throw on your small garage tv while working on your car or some other project. I could never sit down and watch a baseball game straight through only paying attention to that. With football it’s hard to take my eyes off of the game. I can watch basketball and hockey games in full too without losing interest. Soccer and baseball, not so much.

So you are of the opinion that the Stros are the only ones using technology in a bad way?

Hate watching it on TV.  Love going to minor league games.

It is more exciting than soccer, but just barely. Puts it's watchability right around that of pro golf, pro cornhole leagues, pro poker and paint drying.

This is golf for me. I can't sit down and really watch golf, but I like having it on in the background while I'm getting other stuff done.

I never could get into soccer and hockey. As a football/basketball player and fan, those games just look like sloppy as hell turnover fests to me. I just grew up watching and playing sports where possession matters a lot that I can't appreciate sports where it doesn't. They just don't make sense to me. I at least respect hockey though even if I'm not a fan. That's a real damn sport no matter how you slice it. Soccer... meh, I hate it. In large part because I feel like the flopping that has long been a part of that sport has massively invaded the sport of basketball and greatly degraded the quality of a game that I would've once ranked above football in terms of my fandom and interest. Now I basically just watch UNC games and that's it. I couldn't even tell you the last time I watched an NBA game.

I am not excited for baseball specifically and I am annoyed by the approach both sides took for this. I am however, interested to see how this is navigated. We need things worked out so that we can try to creep back to some sort of normal. I guess I'm saying that I will take what I can in terms of progress.

For me it's the NBA. Tell me when there's 5 min left in the 4th if it's close. Otherwise why bother? Same for the NCAA.

Don't care for the NHL, never had.

Soccer is background TV.

Football drives me insane with the start and stops non stop and too many commercials.

Baseball is perfect. Sit back, maybe cruise the web, drink, eat, RELAX. Innings can technically go 20 min without a commercial. It's the perfect sport. I've also been doing Fantasy Baseball for a decade which makes it even more great to follow.

We all like what we like, but soccer, baseball and football are the three sports I really love. (Well, I love tennis too, but that's a different animal.)

But if I were to rank them in order of excitement, it would be 1) soccer 2) baseball 3) football.

And if I were hypothetically forced to eliminate one from the sports scene (I wouldn't want to), it would be the NFL.
