Dwight Howard Confirms He Signs with Rockets

Recommended Posts

No they're still over the cap, I think Howard leaving may give them the mid level exception but that's it.  Pau will be the starting C next year, and honestly that's where he's best at anyway....

I'm excited about what a healthy Kobe + Pau combo can do next season. Kobe had to literally force feed Dwight last season since he lacks a single post move. Kobe and Pau is still an elite duo imo. Obviously the defense will be poor next season though :/

Welcome to the lottery bro.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers decide to rebuild, Kobe(35) coming off an achilles injury, Gasol(33) coming of knee surgery, and Nash(40) old and injury prone is not going to challenge anybody in the West.

Lakers era is over, it all started when Jim Buss took over the franchise.

Yeah, you're probably good with Pau there... But, who knows, after Bynum's Philly fiasco, he may have whittled himself down to the the MLE. Buss should sign him and pretend Dwight never happened, lol.

I'm already pretending Dwight never happened.  Dude tarnished the P&G armor with his antics.....

Eh, it's possible I suppose if everyone is unhealthy next season or has declined rapidly. We went 28-12 to finish the season out last season and that was with injuries to numerous players. Dwight wasn't really a big factor last season other than his defense late in the season when he finally started getting in shape / caring. Obviously we likely aren't competing for a championship, but I'm 99.9% sure that we're making the playoffs if everyone is healthy and themselves.

just as was thinking about bandwagon cheering for the Rockets in the West they go and sign my (easily) most hated NBA player of all time

Dwight Howard is a diva, and his play has dramatically slipped in the past few years.

Idk, I could see the Lakers improving just from losing Howard. He just didn't fit there, and I don't think it mattered that D'Antoni was coach. He didn't fit his system without a doubt, but, he also just wasn't able to nor ever would be able to mesh with Kobe as the lead dog there.

Dwight thinks he wants to be the man but, when he is the man and shrinks under the spotlight.

I think the Lakers and Dwight are better off without each other. Dwight can blend in much easier in Houston versus L.A.

I anticipate Kobe's game is going to be noticeably different coming off the achilles injury but, you know he will probably still have similar production b/c he's just that competitive. I can see the Lakers making the 6th to 8th seed, possibly higher if Kobe is back early in the year.

Well with the increasing hype surrounding Houston now, I don't see him being able to just simply "blend in" for long. Like with the Magic and Lakers, eventually there will be struggles, and he will be the same Dwight Howard.

    • A team might have a lot more injuries than the opposing team. Keeps a fair balance.
    • Its purpose is to ensure a level playing field. Say you have everyone active but Team A has five players injured while Team B only has one. Team A now has a perceived advantage because they technically have a deeper roster. Forcing both teams to sit 8 players is meant to nullify that possibility.
    • It all comes down to Rivera.   Are the Panthers good enough to go on the road and win a game against a so-so team that sucked last year and has a rookie QB in his third ever game?  Yes. Will there be any sign that this coaching staff understands how to do that? That is the question. Backs against the wall, staring down 0-3 and the increasing likelihood that if this thing goes south in a hurry heads will roll... I’d like to think we’ll come out 1-2, but... I still think the Panthers will go into AZ underprepared.  They will underperform.  Maybe it will be close at some point, but I just see the little mistakes adding up to some truly unfortunate momentum changes in this game. On the road, every mistake is magnified. AZ has nothing to lose and will be relaxed and focused.  Panthers will start out looking like they could win this thing, then there will be lapses in focus and suddenly AZ has the ball in good field position. Plus...and I mean this for real...the best narrative for the NFL is the rise of Murray and the decline of the Panthers.  I find that games like this often favor which ever story is the best narrative for the corporate interest.  What helps the NFL more: Kyle Allen leads a mediocre Panthers over and even more mediocre Cardinals, OR Murray balls out and puts up a highlight reel as the lowly Panthers trip over their own stupid feet? The second one. Probably another grinding loss. Panthers 20 Cardinals 27
