I know plenty of people who were okay with Cam either way.
-
I said in the lead up to the draft that I’d take Cam in the 3rd or the 4th. Cam was a man amongst boys against Texas and in every other game I watched at Arizona State. I wanted to pair him up with Chubba and run the ball 35 times a game. so here would have been my choices: Tyler Warren, Nic Scourton, Cam Skattebo, DE, LB, WR Turns out that Warren is pretty darn good, Skattebo is going to have 15 touchdowns this year, and Scourton is going to be one of the best rookie defensive players in the league this season. I always thought taking Tet was a luxury pick because while receiver is important, Tet is a complementary piece to what Bryce does well, not the main course. A tight end like Warren and a back like Cam would have opened a whole new world up for both Dave and Bryce. But here we are. Apparently the Front Office doesn’t read my posts because if they did, we would be a very good football team right now.

Nic Scourton- PFF Highest Rated Rookie (Week 5)

Bro, Bryce was a Tepper pick. Specifically Nicole. Fitterer did what his boss wanted including moving mountains to get a QB because the ROI is typically high. Quality QB play gets you air time which sells jerseys, seats, etc. The problem is had he just sucked for one more year we end up with Daniels, Maye, or Williams and get to retain DJ Moore while actively building a core of talent sooner. Tepper, screwed that up. -
It's still a 4 man front even if the two edges don't have their hands down. Typically would be used in 3rd or 4th and long. Our new base is a 4-2-5. The third linebacker is like a Kam Chancellor type who can cover as a safety or come up and play in the box. Offers a lot of flexibility and destroys the outside passing and run game. Major reason we destroyed the Falcons and Dolphins yet were destroyed by the Patriots. It's a finesse scheme and it's going to struggle mightly against a traditional offense like the Patriots are running.

We now run a 6-7
-
We miss Theilen and we have no other receiver who can create separation. Canales is sending Renfrow out on a traditional route tree and nothing like how he should be used, particularly in short yardage.

(Potential) Top 2026 HC Candidates

Beck will be a Top 5 pick and it's not really even debatable at this point. Allar will be a Top 5 pick as well. Based on what I've seen out of UGA, the issues with Beck's play last year were not all his fault. He clearly took a lot of heat for it but I watch a lot of college football, and there isn't a better draft eligible QB in the country than Beck right now. That's a hill I'll die on. -
Tyson Bagent is the only real player I can think of that I would consider wanting to trade for. He's been in the league 3 or 4 years now, the Bears thought highly enough of him to keep him and sign him to a $10 million extension as a back-up. Clearly he has developed, and he looked really, really good in the preseason. Not just in his numbers but his ball placement, pocket movement, decision making, and execution of the offense. It will never happen, but that's who I would explore if we don't get a shot at Drew Allar or Carson Beck in the draft.

Dude, Beck is so much more efficient than Ward it's hardly even worth talking about. With Ward I feel like that USF game would have bene a one score affair, the FSU game probably ends up being a loss, and the UF game, with how much better their defense is this year, would have been a lot closer. The reason being because Ward is/was quite careless with the ball and he plays "Super Man ball". You guys are iffy on Beck because he's playing on time, within the framework of the offense. He isn't making the off-schedule plays when the receivers aren't there but when the receivers are on their P's and Q's, Beck can deliver it anywhere, on time, and in phase. You also have to realize that Beck has led Miami to wins over Notre Dame, a ranked USF, a likely Top 20 team in Florida, and now Florida State. He's already led Miami to more marquee wins than Ward had all of last season. I watch a ton of college football. If Beck has the mentality to be great, and will put in the work to be great, he has a chance to be really, really good. Reminds me a lot of Jared Goff honestly, or a Joe Burrow type as a thrower of the ball.

Story of the year. Get down massively to Arizona, look like your first NFL game to throwing for more than 300 yards and getting the team to within 40 yards of a come back win. Get down 17-0 to Miami, execute the offense to outscore the Dolphins 27-7 the rest of the way. Defeat the Falcons 30-0 throwing for like 150 yards. Personally, I think it would be great to have retained Darnold. Darnold in this scheme with Canales would instantly make this team a contender for the NFC South. However that didn't happen. I don't know what you do because when they run game gets shut down, and it will get shut down, you have to depend on Bryce to play efficiently. On one third down ball to someone (I forget who), when he was rolling out and made that throw close to the sideline to convert, the TV people would talking about how special that was. What I saw was another receiver streaking all alone 45 yards downfield, with about 5 yards of separation. Even while rolling out, an average QB is able to deliver that ball, signed, and sealed for a touchdown. Bryce's lack of deep ball ability is the achilles heel to this offense and it's something that can't be fixed. I would love to be able to draft Carson Beck. I think he took a lot of crap at UGA which now seems unwarranted. Looking at how inefficient their offense is now compared to how it was with Beck at QB, and now how he has gone into the system Cam Ward was in and outperformed him massively in just pure execution and efficiency, along with the physical traits, tells me he will be a Top 3 pick. We won't have a Top 3 pick though. So what do we do? I have no idea. Canales is too good of an offensive coach for us to get a Top 3 pick and Bryce is inconsistent enough to get us a Top 10 pick. So absent finding a guy like Nix with tons of experience and good enough measurables, which requires great evaluations, I just think we are stuck.

There is so much context missing here that I don't have an opinion. Seems like someone is looking for their few minutes of fame and went to rage bait to get recognition over a sign. If a sign cannot be affixed to the wall, and it's been that way since 2015, just hold the sign. I also assume that they were there for the Falcons game, so what changed there? I have a feeling that there is another side to this that isn't being told and as a result, I refuse to take the bait. Too much rage bait online nowadays. Something happen you don't like? Call Saul, he will make a quality rage bait post which ensures you will get the attention you need to have your needs peddled to.

I would really like to see this Canales offense with Carson Beck. It’s most likely he and Allar will be battling for the top two picks though so we’ve really got to continue to suck. I’d take Beck first, re-sign Dowdle, get a small quick receiver in the 3rd round, make sure the lines contracts are good, and I think we would have a window. Move Bryce for a 5th round pick. -

Dave Canales -
Sorry Chubba. I called this out during Fall Camp and was flamed for it but I thought both Etienne and Dowdle were overall better backs than Chubba is. Dowdle is it. I think he may have had a decent game today but Dowdle has broken so many tackles in the hole just by speed and vision alone. flame away suckers.

Dude, Morgan is still living with the aftershocks of trading up to get Bryce. It’s not his fault that fans can’t think critically enough about this to understand that.

What does eating opossum have to do with playing football? I really despise this line from you city slickers who don’t know a hoe from a hoe. Chill on your hatred of all things peaceable and nice. -
Wilks is overrated as a coach? He got one year in Arizona and his half year in Carolina was the best ball we’ve seen since what, 2017? We were Ickey Ekwonu meltdown away from the playoffs in 2022 despite everything that happened. We should have kept Wilks, re-signed Darnold, re-signed Foreman, drafted Kincaid, Torrance, and Charbonnet. Then, had we sucked again, we could have taken Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye and kept DJ Moore.

The Bryce-anyone connection isn’t panning out. The fact we don’t have a single burner at receiver is going to cause problems against better teams. Trade for Tryeek

Those aren’t even “cocky” I don’t think. That’s just good, new fashion, trash talk.

So you want to throw it 40 times just to see who Bryce is? sorry, but no. The game today is who this team wants to be. 30-40 runs, 20 passing attempts. -

CPcavedweller replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude threw for almost 400 yards, and carried the offense on all of the second half touchdown drives. On the last one we only ran once in 13 plays and still scored. That is called "asserting your will". Typically it's in the run game, but we managed it passing. If Canales can somehow find a way to also run the ball, the Panthers probably win that game because the final drive wouldn't have been such a cluster fug. -

The highs in this game, and Atlanta, certainly are Pro Bowl level.
