Official Week 18: Panthers @ Buccaneers Gameday Thread
pantherj replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
We do have some really dumb players but keep passing. Our o-line is overpaid trash and can't run block against good teams. -

So the run is being stuffed, and we're not connecting in the passing game. We should be able to correct ONE of those things. -

Has any player in Panthers history fallen harder in a shorter period of time than Rico? -

We lack a decent pass rush, and we compound the problem by not containing the QB. Then at the next level we play coverage that is as loose as a wizards sleeve. Hard to watch at times. -

The Bucs have the better team, but Baker is highly unpredictable. If we can win the turnover battle, then we win. If the turnover battle is even, then we lose imo. Young usually looks like a backup QB, but then he will sometimes look like a first ballot HoFer. Let's hope the Reaper shows up otherwise we'll have done the worst thing you can do in the NFL - win as many games possible without making the playoffs. That is the nightmare sweet spot. You're as low in the draft as possible, but nothing to show for it. -
Wildcat would actually be a good idea if we're facing a team that is weak up front. Seattle's D-line was alarmingly stronger than our o-line, and that put it all down to Young's arm. Sometimes he's on, and sometimes he's off. Way off. You know what your team's coaching staff thinks of its QB by what they ask of him against a stiff defense. We ask the almost the bare minimum. We treat Young like he's a backup QB and we're just trying to get by any way we can when it's actually a good defense. My one piece of advice. Offer Young a low ball contract, or nothing. We can't give him a huge contract and hope to drag him along. If he's going to be an anchor we have to drag, then the less he weights us down, the better.

Do Not Pick the 5th Year Option up on Bryce

Young has reached his ceiling, and it's below Darnold. If you sign him, you do it for peanuts and use the cap space to build a better team. Otherwise this is how we'll look in every single playoff game we play with Young in the future. -
The only social media I want to see out of XL this offseason is….

Hands are not good. Not a burner. Good size possession receiver. Easily replaced. He has to improved his hands with more reps catching or whatever it takes to stay on this team long term. -
I've become more of a passive observer this year. I'll watch and hope for the best, but this QB/coaching combo will never amount to anything significant. Also, many of the players in this team are stupid when it comes to football. We have a low football IQ team, and outside of blowing up the roster that will carry over ti next season. It's over long term. If we miracle our way into the playoffs, then expect this team to be obliterated. We're the equivalence of an octogenarian without Viagra.

Ickey has earned a good new contract obviously. We do need to draft a RT maybe in the 2026 draft.

The Saints totally had our number last time. But this is the NFL, and we have an extra week to prepare. This isn't like when we had River and did the same stuff no matter what. Canales will make adjustments to counter what the Saints did to us. Now will it work? Stay tuned. Hold on to your butts.

Refs killed our drive and took over the game on a bogus call. Thanks. Send that one to the league for review. Look into that ref. Fishy call. -

Worst holding call of the year. All he did was push his ass down. No holding. Holding would have held him up. Dirty call. -
Isaiah Simmons is absolutely horrible. His change of direction is poor, but the most disturbing part about him is how physically weak he is for his size. He can get stiff armed by WRs and knocked to the turf. Simmons will play OLB for us due to his height which can help in pass coverage. Keep in mind that he's terrible.
