  1. The future for the Panthers is drafting a QB in the top 5 or so in the 2023 draft. The only thing that could change that would be Mayfield somehow catching fire with this offense. That seems impossible at this point because out offense has no identity and doesn't make any sense. Add to that the mind boggling play calling, Icky having pass blocking issues, the o-line lacking power in run blocking on the interior, and the under utilization of CMC in the passing game, and I can't see Mayfield making it. Having said all of that I do think we'll beat the Saints. Our expensive aging vets, Moton, Shaq, CMC, could all be subject to trade depending on if we can find a dance partner. Normally when you bring in a rookie QB I like the team to unload the vets unless they are on the o-line. The rookie will need the best possible o-line so that he isn't injured or psychologically damaged. Will Rhule be allowed to coach the final year of his contract. I think so. Tepper has talked about how it takes a long time to turn things around, but I think 2023 is make or break for Rhule. Corral looked horrendous in the preseason, and yes he was a clueless rookie but still. He looked tiny and too short out there, and his throwing motion made matters worse. Corral will certainly not prevent us from drafting a QB once we jettison Baker, Darnold, and pointless PJ. Flush the toilet, and bring in the future. We can start Corral in 2023 and let our prized rookie learn before we send him out to the wolves. If Corral lights it u and plays like a rockstar, then he's earned the starting spot we're set. The rookie can be the backup until we trade him. If Corral poops the bed, then the rookie takes the reigns. This is how I see our future playing out, or what I hope for anyway.
  2. Historically the Panthers have liked to drop DEs into coverage. For instance under Fox we would use a fire zone blitz and drop Peppers into coverage, and he got a pick 6 once which was pretty thrilling to watch. It was also just hard to get the ball over him because of his wingspan and leaping ability. Our defense bailed us out against the Giants for as long as they could, but the Giants are terrible so not much of an accomplishment.
  3. Just don't go look up Darnold's stats from the first two game last season and compare them to Baker.
  4. Our resident jag Luvu dropped a pick 6 that would have won us the game. Turnover opportunities are there. We need better LBs, but that's the least of our problems.
  5. I'm a Panthers fan because they are the Carolinas team. If they leave the Carolinas, then I'm done with the Panthers. If we get a new NFL team, then I'll pull for that new team. I would never pull for this team if I were just picking a team that I liked. I don't like Baker Mayfield, Tepper, Rhule, Snow, ect. I think our coordinators are untalented, our HC is like a used car salesman, and our QB is a spastic proven loser. Why in the world would I continue to pull for this team if they moved to Mexico City, or wherever? If I'm picking a team that doesn't represent NC then I'd choose a winner with players and coaches I liked. Having said that, I would not pull for any team unless they represent NC.
  6. My all time low was the Eagles game where Jake came out and looked terrible week 1 following his playoff meltdown against Arizona. That made it clear to me that we were a minimum 3 seasons away from being good again. Terrible. And it was also clear that certain players like Steve Smith would be too old by the time we had a good experienced QB. I feel better about our current situation because we have a young core. All we need is a great QB prospect from the 2023 draft and we’re back in business. That is totally doable since we’ll have a top ten draft pick in the 2023 draft, and there are a few great prospects. We might even have a top 5 draft pick, which would be even better. Then the new rookie can grow with this young team. Yes Shaq will be too old, not most of our best players will be ready when the new QB is up to speed.
  7. We didn't get Herbert. We've had at QB: Teddy two gloves. Sam *derp* Darnold. Washed up Cam. Baker Mayfield who failed in Cleveland. There was no reason to think that any of these loser QBs were going to somehow take us to a winning record, or the playoffs. When you bring in loser veteran QBs your team becomes a bunch of losers. Matt Rhule thought that he didn't need a top tier QB. He thought he could win with a lower tier QB because his system was so superior, and the supporting cast of players could will the team to victory. He was outrageously arrogant and 100% wrong. His idiotic idea to put less emphasis on the QB position is the reason he's going to be fired at the end of this season, or finish out his contract with no new contract. I say fire Rhule to take away his ability to go into the 2023 draft and really wreck this team. Rhule has tremendous power in his contract, so he can override Fitt and screw us in the draft, or trade away our picks for another loser QB. Don't let him do that. Fitt is trash, but Rhule is even worse. Rhule will double down on what isn't working and tell everyone to stick with the process. What we need is a new head coach who will focus on finding a QB in the 2023 draft with our high 1st round pick. That is priority 1 and the rest will work itself out. We must find our franchise QB asap. Dump Rhule and let the new staff find our QB. NO NEW VET QBs because that would continue QB limbo. Take out FIRST ROUND pick and take the BEST QB prostpect. If he flops, then he flops. That's fine. A proven flop is not fine.
  8. The ultimate problem with the offense is not pass blocking but rather Baker Mayfield. He's clearly a bottom tier QB and he's awful in the pocket, and mediocre running to the right. The Giants knew he'd run the right and had a spy waiting for him. It's easy to flush Baker out even when he should stay put.
  9. Icky will be a constant problem with pass blocking all season. We're just going o have to live with it as we spend a top 10 pick on him and moving him to LG would be an admission of failure.
  10. At this point I would swap Brady and Icky. Icky just doesn't have the quickness and precision to block quick DEs. He's too sloppy and easy for a DE to set up. Brady could handle the LT position better because he's faster and more precise, and Icky could provide a boost of power at LG. Icky is on the tall side for LG, but I think he could do it. Icky would help our really useless run plays where we use double team blocks that end up getting split or go nowhere. Icky would 100% change that. Pat lacks the power we need in the running game, but he's out there due to an injury. That's fine. Top quality backup center. We will need an upgrade for Corbett in the 2023 draft as he is not powerful enough in the run game. I'm pleased with Moton. He's funny to watch because he's perfected his craft, but he's still pretty slow.
  11. Before Rhule arrived I described something called QB limbo in about 5 different threads. This is when you draft or bring in QBs who are not franchise level in talent to start. The reason you don't want to do that is because it's not about the overall talent on the team, it's the about the QB. If you have a lower tier QB, then you're not winning the SB. Period. Not in modern times. Also, you end up winning too many games to get the top QB in the draft. Many countered me by saying that drafting the top prospect didn't matter, and that we could draft a QB lower in the draft and sill land a franchise QB. Let's see how that panned out. The most important event is when the Panthers didn't lose enough games to draft Justin Herbert in the 2020 NFL draft. QB limbo continued with Teddy Bridgewater, the QB Matt Rhule wanted. Rhule FAILED with Teddy and promptly threw him under bus and sent him packing. QB limbo continued with Sam Darnold, another QB Rhule wanted. Rhule failed with Darnold. Now we have the limbo QBs of Baker and Corral. They are both QB limbo level and are not the answer. Rhule will fail with both of them as well if he is allowed to coach in the final year of his contract. All of those QBs were a big waste of time, money, and draft capital. BOA is full of opposing fans, and Panthers fans don't care anymore. That is what I had been warning against all along. QB limbo has worked it's magic. We're ruined, and we could have had Justin Herbert and prosperity. Now what? All Panthers fans had better hope and pray that we lose as many games as possible this season, and that we dump Rhule. Going close to 0-17 will create a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to end QB limbo, and start fresh with the TOP QB PROSPECT in the 2023 draft. The problem facing us now is that Baker is good enough for us to win about 5 games or so with the rest of the season. Not good, but if the ball bounces against us (see moron Hubbard fumbling) then we can lose enough games to end QB limbo, the thing I have been warning about all along.
  12. J.R turned out to be a creep. I don't miss him at all. I do miss the players Hurney drafted in the first round. In those days we had a solid core of highly talented leaders in the field who were also loved by the fan base. Even if the season went poorly, you had some talent out there and leadership. Now under Fitt we have something that rhymes with his name. I want Fitt and Rhule gone. And no of course I don't ever want Hurney back.
  13. It's all about QB play. What killed this franchise was going from Teddy to Sam to washed Cam to Baker. You can't do that and expect good results. We might beat the Falcons next week, but no one in their right mind thinks we're going to have a good season. The teams that can expect good seasons have top tier QBs with very few exceptions. When you have Baker as QB you should expect (with our roster) around 7 wins. Now we've lost against two bad teams 7 wins looks less likely. I think we're now looking at about 5 wins. Why would I be excited in any way to watch the Panthers win 5 ugly games, and never be in contention for the playoffs yet again. I'm going to watch each game, but I am no long watching the games live. I'll record them and watch when I'm bored. Where did it all go wrong? There was a moment in the 2020 draft when Justin Herbert was sitting there at the #6 pick and we had the 7th pick. I said live in the chat it's got to be Herbert right, we've got to get him somehow. I said I hope it's not the fat ass, or something to that effect, meaning we got Brown. Sure enough, the Bolts took Herbert and we got Brown. That was the most critical moment of the post Cam era. The next most critical moment will be the 2023 draft when we have a top 10 pick. Until then there really isn't much to be excited about on the field.
  14. I told you guys all along we are drafting a QB in the top 10 of the 2023 draft. Baker is not good enough unless he makes some sort of miraculous improvement. Also, did we really just lose to the poop Giants? Really?
  15. We've lost one game where Baker kept scrambling out of the pocket for no reason, and had WRs open all over the field the whole game. I think we can wait on the new mega contract.
  16. Just a side note about Snow, I'm sick of him blitzing with Horn. We spent a top 10 pick on him to cover. Send someone else.
  17. Source? Trust me bro. This sounds like a fan fiction written by a middle school Panthers fan.
  18. Pat is a smart player who does dumb crap sometimes. It's hard to explain.
  19. Someone should have told Baker not to roll out or scramble because he's 6'1 going up against either 6'4 Pro Bowl mega athlete long arm leaper, or more likely 6'5 Pro Bowl mega athlete long arm leaper. Baker must have been told poop advice. You tell Baker before the game STAY IN THE POCKET. If you feel interior pressure take a step back or two, and THROW THE BALL. I don't know what they told Baker but he ended all the wrong things for a lot of the game.
  20. I just hope Baker plays a lot smarter this time. Just for example, it was well known that the Browns had huge DEs who were tall and great at pass rushing, but not a good interior pass rush. Yet Baker would leave the pocket for no reason and put himself fact to face with the Browns DEs on the run. Really dumb. Like brain dead. Well now we have the exact opposite situation with the Giants. Their interior pass rush is better than their exterior pass rush. Let's hope Baker acts appropriately in the pocket.
  21. Ok so basically your all-22 showed that Neal pooped the bed big time. Good news for us. I expect us to take advantage early and often, but with Panthers luck he'll put it all together in this game.
