Yeah, I get that OTAs are not mandatory but come on. Your job is WR on an NFL team. The team is having workouts with a new QB. IDC if he knows what Sam can and cannot do. Especially since you have a ton of new WRs on the team. You're supposed to be a leader of the WR Corps. If you are truly dedicated to your job that pays you millions of dollars. YOU SHOW UP.

Many of us believe that if Brady has a stellar season he'll be a head coach in 2022. What if Snow's defense turns out to be top 10 and he gets offers. Snow IMO is happy as a DC and may not be interested in a head coaching job. (Ie. Jimmy Johnson/Dick Lebeau) Thoughts?

I think the difference between the ooohs and ahhhs of Rivera's free agents is these guys were at the end of their careers and Rivera was looking for a spark from the past. Sadly it failed miserably. Most of our free agents are players that had good season in 2020 but their previous organization let them seek free agency. Maybe betting they wouldn't get a better offer. Plus with the lower salary cap they may not have been able to afford them. In short, there is no comparison to Rivera's/Hurney's additions and Rhule/Fitterer additions.

We will be in the Super Bowl next year
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Italianpantherfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here's my take. If we are playoff bound that means that most or all of our additions panned out. Meaning our defense is solid and our offense is explosive. 17 weeks of playing together and gelling as a team. If we make the playoffs we are just as capable of winning every game that we play. So IMO if you say we are playoff bound than you can also say that we could win the super bowl. We've won on the road before and this young talented team do it again. (I know different regimes) -
I think the offense will go through CMC. His ability to stress a defense through running and receiving opens up so many other options and Darnold will feed our WRs plenty. We will utilize Hubbard to spell CMC but in the long run I think CMC will get the most receptions in the passing game.

I get your pessimism especially due to our history of free agents. My optimism lies with Fitterer. He's the new king in town. Based off of the talent he grabbed in the draft it gives me confidence that he did his homework on our free agents. I think Cam Erving will be serviceable until Christensen is ready to take over. I do believe Christensen will eventually be our LT for many years. I think our depth on the O-Line is the best we've had in many years. Will this O-line be the best in the league? I don't think so but do I believe they will be in the upper half (1 to 16) yes. I seriously doubt we will be worse than 2020.

I think Jefferson stepped into a position where he had the opportunity to start and do the things he did last year. I am not sure Marshall will get as many opportunities. While I agree he is going to be a beast. He'll have to beat out Moore and Anderson to get to the #2 spot where he can show his skills. I think he can be as good as Jefferson but I don't think he'll have the numbers.

He didn't make reference a whole lot of our rookies other than Horn and Tremble. I just think with the additions of our free agents and the draft our team is going to surprise many people. He doesn't say we'll make the playoffs and that's fair but I do believe by season end teams are not going to be excited about playing us.

I found this quite interesting. This is from a Viking fan. This is a thought of many of us on here. I just found it interesting that fans of other teams see the same thing many of us do.

Le’Veon Bell on Jets offense under Gase
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pittsburgh has had their fair share of great running backs but a lot has to do with scheme. I thought that when Bell was with Pittsburgh and that when he went to another team he would be just another running back. Connor will be a similar case when he moves on from Pittsburgh. -
I think this defense is going to be amazing and fun to watch. Here's why. Outstanding veterans added at a reasonable price that fit our scheme. Horn will be our shutdown corner that we have been missing since Bradbury left. Snow will has two compete CBs to maneuver around to play the #2 and Slot. Chinn playing his natural position plus filling hybrid spots as necessary. We'll have a great DT and DE rotation that will keep our guys fresh all game. I think our CB are going to make the QBs hold the ball just a split second longer but long enough to turn the QB pressures we had last year in to QB sack. I think Snow is going to show how good of a defensive coordinator he really is. He'll have all the tools that he needs and is going to make things difficult for opposing teams. I am excited to see our offense but more excited to see how good this defense will be.

So many teams are not watching what we are doing. They are going to have a rude awakening very soon. I If this defense is top 10. I think if Darnold can keep the mistakes down and put some points on the board we are going to win many games. I also think we will play well against anyone we face in 2021.

Panthers Confidential - A Look Into the Panthers Offseason
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DeSim's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers Camp Confidential is one of the best productions I have watched. Every year they do such an amazing job of telling us how it is. I loved they sat down before the draft and pretty much nailed the first seven picks. They would have made Mel Kiper and the others look stupid. It just goes to show how much attention to detail our staff does. Not only who we are targeting but also what other teams are thinking. What I also enjoyed was they were discussing the players we selected well in advance of the actual selection. We got just about everyone we wanted when we wanted them. Watching those phone call to those young men was fun. Most were truly humble and honored to be selected. After watching this I cannot wait to see this team on the field. I try to contain myself but I have a very strong feeling our defense is going to be amazing. I can't wait for the next episode. -
What we need to see from Sammy D in OTAs
DaveThePanther2008 replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm onboard with this. He's had 3 seasons under his belt. Regardless of age he should know what's out there. IMO his age was only a factor in bringing him here. Young with some experience. We're going to know, just like we knew with Teddy, after one season whether he has the tools, the confidence and leadership to run this team for the next 10+ years. There won't be much of a difference between Darnold and Teddy if Darnold continually loses games over pour decisions. Poor decision = inability to make all throws. I'm still hanging my hat that he will succeed here but you make a great point. -
Ron "learning from his mistakes" in Carolina
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ron was a veteran and probably got passed over for a better talented player and never let it go. He must have felt his veteran status gave him the upper hand. Never forget Norwell not getting his chance until a sorry ass guard went down with injury. And then had the thought of bringing him back after his injury. Thank god he didn't. He can say he's learned from his mistakes. I'm not buying it. -
High: DJ Moore. I think with the addition of a QB that can throw the deep ball. DJ is going to have a monster year. Not Sure: Christian Miller. I think his athleticism will be an added value to the defense but not sure if he will come in shape and ready. Bad: Whoever is playing FS. We don't really have an answer to this position and we're banking on players that really aren't natural free safeties.
-
I think what is good for us is that he has time to develop. He doesn't have to be thrown in the fire. He'll have time to learn and improve.

Lawrence was one, Wilson was two. What would they need a smokescreen for? Getting some team to trade up to 4? I don't buy the smokescreen theory. There would have been no need to create one because there would have been no one for them to trade up to in front of them for Lance. IMO they initially thought Jones was their man but later determined that Lance was too good to pass up.
