Don’t be surprised if Panthers beat Rams Sunday
DaveThePanther2008 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
People, as in fans, have given up so they are all ready for the draft. These players have 12 games and they aren't giving up. I don't think anyone in this organization is praying we lose every game. Wilks is going to do his best to win. I doubt we win in the next 2 or 3 weeks but after that don't be surprised if we have a good late November and December. -
This is what we may face. Tanking is a fan term not an NFL strategy. Players don't go out on Sunday to intentionally lose so they can obtain a higher draft pick. Our situation is very bleak, you can bet each player is going to do their best to win the next 12 games. If we lose out, than it won't be because our players didn't give the effort.

Evaluating a QB from schools like Alabama, OSU and maybe Georgia is tough. These schools always have the cream of the crop recruiting. They always have top talent at the skilled positions. All of those players are going to look like surefire starters in the NFL. You really have to wait until the College Football Playoffs to really see who is good and who relies on the great team talent. Stroud and Young may or may not have stellar NFL careers but as of today. I don't see either being "Franchise" QBs.

What is going on with the QB position the next couple weeks?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I stand corrected. His dad did play QB but not the same Tony Eason. My bad. -
Double edged sword. We need draft capital for the new HC (unless Tepper decides to keep Wilks) but if we drain our team of all the talent than we are putting the new HC in a no-win situation.

Key Words "As many" Baker probably leads the NFL in batted passes. -

Wouldn't it be a great story if Eason started and actually looked good. He also has pedigree at the QB position as he is the son of Tony Eason who was one of the 6 QBs taken in the famous 1983 draft class. At 6'7" he definitely won't get as many passes batted down. He might already be better than PJ, who IMO, is only on the roster because of Rhule's love for his former players. -

They may put Baker out there again but IMO they are going to keep him under 70% of the team's snaps. There is no need is giving up a 4th round pick for him when we can get away with a 5th rounder if he plays less than 70% of the snaps. -
There was a tweet or some post that they weren't allowing Brown to do what he does best. I will be highly interested to see how he plays under Wilks.

Much has been written and said how Snow would drop Burns into coverage instead of getting after the QB. I would like to see McCall and Brown at DT to really push the pocket and Burns and YGM getting after the QB. Rotation Loannidis and Nixon at DT. Thoughts?

It will all depend on how we handle Cooper Kupp. The guy is a beast and can find a way to get open. If Wilks plays an aggressive defense it might be possible. -
Sean Payton Says Carolina job is Attractive
DaveThePanther2008 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know many hate him but if there were some way we could get him, including giving up a 2024 1st round pick. I'd do it. -
You might be right. Payton may pull the plug on coaching Carolina if we trade CMC. I would imagine Payton would get the most out of CMC.

We've seen the DC coordinator route for HC. While we have had some really good defenses it seems that the offensive side of the ball was under managed. I can only think of Chudzinski as the only decent offensive coordinator we've had since Dan Henning left. I think it is easier for a team to lose a defensive coordinator and replace with a member of the staff and keep rolling. We saw McDermott and Wilks leave and our defense continued to be good. We also saw the opposite when we lost Chudz. We could never find a coordinator to take over and keep going. So I believe, if we are going to let Wilks go after this season than our choice should be a good offensive mind that will stay in power and our scheme won't really change much when the OC moves on to be a head coach. Hopefully, we have a DC like McDermott and we keep filling the DC spot with proteges of the departed DC. Thoughts

You make it sound as if there is a surefire franchise QB in this coming draft. I see potentially good QBs but none that say Franchise about them. Look at T. Lawrence in Jacksonville. He's not, IMO, living up to expectations. Maybe he doesn't have a supporting cast but he not showing he's elite yet. He may never be but in 2021 draft everyone was sure he was a surefire franchise QB. You base your assumptions on Corral on a HC that treated him like he was a freshman in college. He didn't give him any real opportunities to shine. I agree he looked horrific in his first preseason game, but most knowledgeable fans would say he looked much better in the 2nd preseason game before he got hurt. I think given a real opportunity with a good coaching staff we could have a GOOD QB, maybe not a franchise QB but someone who can execute the offense. Someone who can score enough points to complement our defense. Rhule put us in this situation to consider a QB in 2023. I'll wait until after the season to say whether I believe any college QB is worthy of the #1 spot or even top 5 picks.

Best laugh of the day....hahahahaha

Next up, PJ Walker gets released and any other scrub from Temple and Baylor.

So, I guess you can say Rhule Snowed us..... hahaha

Based on what? 2 preseason games with offensive linemen who aren't even on the practice squad? Preseason game 1 was horrific but MC played much better in his second stint before getting hurt. I agree with @panthers55 at this point in the college season, I am not overly impressed with any of the QBs in this upcoming draft. Sure, there are some decent QBs but franchise I don't see it. Wilks had a decent defensive backfield when he was here before. IMO, he has a better one now. Read the Steve Wilks Bio on Panthers.com. In his 5 of 6 years in Carolina we had a top 10 defense. Defensive Coordinators have the final say and it is quite apparent that Snow wasn't going to toe the line especially after Wilks moved past him in the pecking order. Steve Wilks (panthers.com)

Next step: Get rid of Robby Anderson
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robbie clearly wants out of here and there are a few teams that might be interested, (ie KC). If we could get a decent pick, 3rd or 4th rounder. I would be estatic to see him go.
