  1. You just made the point for a defensive minded HC without agreeing to it. Quinn, a defensive minded HC, had a good OC when they went to the SB. Atlanta failed to follow up with another good OC. It's one or the other, it just depends on the owner. Tepper seems to want a young offensive minded head coach. Either way you are going to have to bring in a coordinator for your opposite skill set. Does the new HC try to keep Wilks as a DC or maybe just Holcomb? We assume he'll bring in a protégé for his OC. If we go offensive HC, IMO you keep, at minimum, Holcomb. The defense has played well considering our offense to be so anemic. I think it would be foolish to start all over on the defensive side as well as the offense. My biggest concern with a "young" head coach (offensive or defensive) is, can he lead the team. Can he get them to buy into his goals, can he motivate, can he be a leader and still get his offense into place? We don't want to get into the carousel that the Lions and Jets have been doing for years and years. Hiring and firing head coaches. I guess we'll see.
  2. Play anyone but Mayfield until we are guaranteed that our 4th round pick is safe. Than pick your poison. I wouldn't be surprised if Darnold does better than last year. He'll have much more time to throw the ball with our offensive line playing better.
  3. Not at all, you're the one that thinks that just because you draft a QB he's automatically going to take the helm. You and others are the ones that don't respect my opinion call me names. So please get off your high horse believing you're right. It's an opinion and like ass holes everyone has one. I have never contended that Corral will win the job over a draft choice. I've contended that he'll get a shot.
  4. Since when is a top 5 QB in the NFL the same as a top 5 pick? Being a top 5 pick does not make you a Top 5 QB in the NFL.
  5. To answer the Question. Trade down and get Richardson. Guys got a cannon. Stroud and the OSU label worry me. (BTW I am a huge OSU fan) Young impressed me in the one game I saw but I am terrified of his size. It's not because he can't play the position but when you have a beast LB baring down on your blind side he's going to get destroyed. He sprained his shoulder against Arkansas, and it wasn't a vicious hit. Wait until he gets drilled once or twice. Love the talent, hate the size.
  6. Fair enough on Russell but there a hundred of other top picks that just didn't pan out. Tanking for one doesn't automatically change your direction. It only shows your desperate. WRONG!!!! You guys just brush him off as an afterthought and ASS-U-ME that because he was a 3rd round QB that he can't or won't compete for the job. There isn't a Burrow or Herbert or even a Lawrence in this draft class that would win the job outright. My contention is and most likely accurate, Corral will compete for the position. If he doesn't beat the guy out, so be it, but he'll get an opportunity to compete. You guys think he has no chance, I don't agree. You tankers want a QB regardless of other needs and that only 1 or 2 are acceptable. Anything less is a road down to mediocrity. I say with this draft class if you have a better opportunity to go down that road anyhow.
  7. In fairness, I don't know if he is or isn't better but what I do know is that he'll compete for the starting job. I don't give a rats @SS if that QB is the #1 pick. He's not going to be given the keys without earning it. Anyone that believes that the head coach is going to give the rookie QB the starting job without working for it, is insane. To the chagrin of our Tanker counterparts that believe a drafted QB has the job and it's his to lose, they are wrong. He may be given every opportunity to win it, but Corral is going to be out there showing he is as good if not better. T
  8. Most will also agree several talking heads had him as the best QB in the draft and his stock dropped over some BS off the field statements. I have no issues with drafting a QB but I can guarantee you that Corral will be in the conversation with our prospective head coach. You love riding the injury and lower draft status as if it is your only justification. Many of Corral's traits transition to the NFL quite well. Especially decision making and quick release. He had, by far, the quickest release of any QB in recent drafts including this one. Here's the way I see it. Trade down and get a 1st this year and next. Pick a QB, whoever it may be with the lower pick. Let that QB and Corral compete. If they both bomb you have 2 first round picks to move up and get a Franchise QB like Maye. And you don't have to tank to do it.
  9. Jamarcus Russel won the national championship with LSU and is considered the biggest bust in NFL history. His college production was amazing. David Carr had an amazing college career and bombed out. Do I need to go on with how great of college production means in the NFL? Fields is 3-8 in his 2nd year. He loves to run, one day that is going to get him destroyed. How does that make him a better prospect. This is a consistent argument for the Tanker crew. They are blah blah blah better than anyone from last year. Alabama is having one of their worst seasons and most likely will miss the playoffs, I guess Young is the scapegoat. He gets all the praise when he wins, why not the losses.
  10. Weak argument, bro. I haven't seen one thing Stroud does great, alot of nice things and some bad things. Young, as I said earlier, his height worries me. I remember RGIII. Fortunately for the Redskins they drafted Cousins. Oh yeah, late in the same draft. Based on? Quick Release, accuracy, mobility, leadership? Or maybe it is just a freak accident with an O-Line that couldn't protect our children (on the field), as you proof they are better. The only thing you truly have is all these talking heads thinks he's ready. Oh that's right, Corral comes from a Pistol offense where he doesn't go under center. Stroud and Young are different because they are thoroughbreds for Alabama and OSU.
  11. So answer me this, why is it Fields gets all the excuses in the world as to why he's not lighting it up yet? However, 99% of the tankers disregard Corral as an afterthought? He's not allowed any leeway based on Rhule's handling of his development. Because he looked terrible in game one but better in game two of a preseason where he saw limited Reps. Why the double standard?
  12. So who you got? Stroud or Young? IMO Stroud is more system than talent. Young as much as I love his skills reminds me of RGIII. 1st time he doesn't slide he's gonna get lit up like a christmas tree and that will be that. Any other QB is not worthy of a high pick. If you insist on a QB in round 1, trade down and get Richardson or the newest old name Rattler later in round 1. There will be several good ones in round two. Though hurt Hooker will be there in round 2, Penix from Oregon, via Indiana. is another. All have talent to play in the NFL and all have the chance to bust. There are several I didn't name but are also interesting prospects. @Aussie Tank wants to just forget about Corral because he got injured in preseason and to date, I believe that was planned. Fun conspiracy theory. Most will agree he got a bum deal in preseason. Most agree that Rhule fugged the Panthers by not developing Corral. Most agree except those that want a QB in top of round 1. They want their shiny new toy even though they have one aleady.
  13. No one said we weren't drafting a QB. I just don't think so in the 1st round.
  14. And how many wins? What's the difference? 3-8 is 3-8 and this is with a 2nd year QB. I guarantee you, if Fields was on this team the huddle would be screaming to tank for another QB.
  15. Jones maybe. Hell the 6th round rookie just might eventually be better than Jones. Justin Fields has won as many games as our QBs have. Not much to get excited about. I'm sure that if he was a Panther the same group would be calling for us to Tank again.
  16. And the passing game was elite right? Play action meant nothing. Can't run the ball if you can't pass. Pretty easy to stack the box and make us beat you through the air.
  17. If you want us to tank, it's a loser's mentality. It's that simple. We've discussed this on here and most tankers believe there are only 2 players in the entire draft worthy of being picked up. You don't reach for a QB that has too many question marks. Every single QB in this draft has an upside and downside. We'll most likely be in the top 5 and I will not be surprised if we trade down.
  18. Why not just pull the defense. Carolina will score two plays later.
  19. That pass interference coming down the stretch. Mike T. just said they had been going at it all night. Kelce gets away with bullying and pushing off DBs and gets away with it. The refs should have let that go. It wasn't blatant. Mahomes is Goodell's love child and wants him in the Super Bowl. Gatta pull a string or two to make that happen. EVERY SINGLE GAME, KC gets a break from refs going down the stretch.
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And we want to tank for a QB in this upcoming draft. NONE of them can carry Herbert's jockstrap. OH the irony.
  21. This is a terrible list. Maybe we should just require the defense not to rush the QB for 3 seconds too. I sure hope it is sarcasm.
  22. It's the Perennial fantasy football league mentality. As soon as you are out of contention you start trading all your players away for draft picks next year. Only to have another losing season. Rinse and Repeat. I can't and never will rout for a loss. If we lose, so be it but I want us to fight until the end. The players will do the same. It's a loser's mentality to want to tank every season. It's been that way for the past 3+ years. Maybe we should just IR everyone and let our PS guys play next year so we have a shot at Maye.
  23. Hate to break it to you. There isn't a Franchise QB in this draft. Some could but I don't see a Mahomes or Herbert in this draft. More Mac Jones and Justin Fields. MR. AVERAGE
  24. Did you watch the game. This defense shut down one of the most potent teams in the NFL and if it weren't for some late turnovers we could have at least tied. The defense was the best I've seen this year. It's sad our offense couldn't take advantage of our defensive Brillance.
  25. It is so sad that we wasted such a great performance by the defense. Baltimore is a potent offense and we held them to 3 points for most of the game. Thanks Shi and Mayfield. Mayfield looked like he was standing on hot coals.
