  1. there’s a substantial hole at DT but in a class full of inside nose guys I think we may see them leaning towards the 2nd round, potentially with a move up the board to get their guy there. i don’t think center gets touched until at least round three but probably round 4. its a deep position group there and I think they like the idea of an open competition between Samac, Fortner, and a mid round pick or two. if all that holds true then I’ll assume TE, OT, and DB to be the rooms they’re potentially looking at in round 1.
  2. fans view “box safety” with the same disdain they have when they hear “game manager” QB. but there’s a reason most 1st round safeties are “box safeties”-it’s a much longer list of requisite skills to be a good box safety than it is to be a guy whose only real responsibility is to not get beat over the top. Fans crave the ed reed type and as someone who has never been able to enjoy this franchise having a guy like that, I get the enthusiasm-but I’m not really prepared to spend a first round pick on a free safety. If it happens it’ll be fun, it’ll address a need with a good player and that’s well and good. But those guys end up walking after their first contract because their pedigree usually outpaces what their teams feel like they’re adding to their overall win total.
  3. It’s slim pickings. Banks is extremely intriguing and is interesting as a five in our front, and is probably the only real option of the true DTs. I like Woods inside but he’s probably doesn’t have the length to play outside. McDonald just isn’t really the type of player you see go high. Average measurables, not much production against the pass. Faulk may actually garner some interest from us. He can play the 5, 4i, 3 in even fronts and is billed as a supposed edge player but I think he’s probably better suited for the above. They’ll like the idea of moving him around-but it’s not going to feel like the plug and play box tick that someone like Sadiq is going to give you. Edit: it could be noted that Faulk’s resume isn’t entirely dissimilar to what Nic Scourton’s was.
  4. Nm apparently Moton is under contract next season as well
  5. Rams ran more 13 personnel than any team in the league last season. Seahawks were 4th. He gives this offense the ability to do things it cannot currently do, and you really can’t buy great tight end production on the open market. people trying to diminish the value of it are wrong.
  6. Wonder if we see an extension for Moton. We have no OT’s under contract beyond next season. Still playing at a high level. Could distribute dollars across an additional season, maybe two.
  7. OT and CB are both premium positions that should still merit a high look. thienaman would be fun but I said that mostly in jest. The lack of investment in the defensive backfield-CB or S, makes me think it’s on their mind come draft time though
  8. so it’s just not a serious take then
  9. I don’t see what you’re seeing with “bad weight.” He’s got the box frame you want in a OT, carries it well. Sheds a bit more weight and he should get a bit quicker on the outside. You’re seeing more tackles in his build tier.
  10. I think it’s possible and it would be fun but I’m generally pursuing more positional value there.
  11. OTs are getting bigger and this team especially likes bigger ones. would not be surprised if they really like Proctor more than the average fan does. He’s got atypical movement skills for a guy his size-a valuable attribute they are pretty familiar with after watching the Rams twice up close this past season.
  12. Sikkema is speculating they’re waiting on the Trent Williams domino to fall and that they’ll move in to pick up the corresponding guy elsewhere. I really don’t think they want to go into the draft with it being so obviously telegraphed where they are desperate, especially not with these options at OT in this class.
  13. one wonders how much money Dave is really saving with turf fields when he has to spend nearly $200 million dollars on the first day of free agency to, in part, free himself up to target a position he already had locked down on the roster until his turf monster destroyed the guy’s knee
  14. surely Tepper is going to follow suit on the other F- field conditions teams and improve the playing surface with real grass right? he’s not going to spend all this money on free agents and risk a non contact injury on his green Taylor swift plastic surely?
  15. SUBSTANTIALLY shorter than Will Campbell. Didn’t know how much until now. I’ll be surprised if he ends up with a real shot at OT anywhere tbh.
  16. there’s an interesting line of thinking that we could take Fano at 19 and work him at LT until Ekwonu returns. If he pans out, wonderful, if not, kick him into center unless Samac has been a revelation there. i think it’s more fantasy than reality though. It’s a lot to ask of a rookie, especially one whose arms are shorter than Will Campbell’s are. it also means you’re using a 1st round pick on a probable Center. I don’t see them going this route but it’s a nice fairy tale that would really work for us.
  17. The team believes have the QB. We’re not preparing the roster for the future, they’re building strengths to go win the division this season.
  18. No ability to create explosives with the ball in their hand tremble is a nice move piece. Evans blocks really well. Add a playmaker and that’s a varied room of talent with package versatility.
  19. combined production of the tight end group would’ve been near the top of the league if assimilated into one do it all player there’s nothing to suggest Canales doesn’t like tight ends.
  20. Rams ran more 13 than any team in the league last season. Seahawks were 4th last I checked. Be at the vanguard of how the league is transitioning and don’t get sucked into forcing a pick for a LB that can’t turn or an edge with historically stubby arms.
  21. Caleb Banks having 35” inch arms probably solidifies him as a 1st rounder. 6’6” 327. We should definitely be interested.
  22. They released Bradley Chubb too which we should definitely be looking at.
