I disagree. “The system” did not fail. It’s what gets us to the playoffs and has us competing in every series. The system dominated 5v5. Freddie and Special Teams cost the Canes this series. The injuries of Pesce and Fast definitely impacted the effectiveness of the PK.

Peters is the future, not PK for the record. Hopefully we’ve seen Freddie’s last game as a Cane. He had a great performance in the playoffs last season and for what he went through this year, it is hard for me to blame him. You have to blame Rod for putting Freddie in this situation. Do I think Rod should be fired? lol, no. It’s hard as fug to win a Cup. Boston has been in the playoffs for virtually 30’yeara straight and has one Cup to show for it. The core is young, we have great prospects, and play a system that gets us to the playoffs annually. And you cannot discount Rod’s value as a developer of talent. Rod isn’t going anywhere, nor should he.

Let’s be real, Rod isn’t going anywhere and shouldn’t. It’s hard to win a Cup. Everything has to go right for it to happen. We had two destabilizing injuries that significantly impacted the way we play defense and the PK. If Rod will detach himself from his assistants and stop being so loyal to veterans, we have a HOF coach.

Rod is going to go with the vets. He is loyal to a fault. Although, I don’t think we can find a better coach than him at the present. The core of this team would not react well to that. It’s not happening.
