Advanced Passing Stats Through 8 Games(2020 vs. 2021)
Pantherxtreme replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam's seems to have two reads, lock in on the 1st option and if he's not open, throw to the open DB. -

No the stats says he's inaccurate and holding on to the ball to long, and attempting to push the ball down the field even if it's the worst decision. Which has resulted in alot of short fields for our defense. -

Christian McCaffrey production the first 3 games probably has alot to do with it. -

In what realm is Sam doing better. Teddy was pressured 7% less probably due to being able to diagnose defenses better and get rid of the ball. Also would like to see the turnover ratio. -
Yes Haynes is one of our best rotational pass rushers, you think good teams like Tampa Bay trading good depth at key positions no they're stockpiling talent for a playoff run. But I guess all that is a moot point anyway with the options we have at QB, thanks to our brain trust.
-
So I guess they don't believe a playoff run is viable since we're sellers.

Is this the best panthers secondary ever?
Pantherxtreme replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes I would put that group either 2 or 3 in my historic ranking. -

Looks like the last time was 2009 the league has definitely become more pass oriented since that time. So I think it's even more impressive what they have been able to do. No doubt this is the deepest talent pool we've ever had in the secondary. -

Are you sure? We're currently the #2 ranked defense and are #2 vs the pass. I don't recall us ever holding out opponents to under 200 yard passing a game like we doing statistically this season. -
Anderson on the Hands Team for the On-Side Kick!

Yea Teddy turned him into a complete receiver and not just an occasional deep threat. -

Robby was money last season. -
Sam Darnold completion percentage was 54.16% vs the Falcons, and alot of his supporters were ready to throw a parade for that performance. Not saying PJ is going to be great, but the drop off people keep mentioning is vastly being exaggerated. Darnold was able to extend drives against mostly with his legs, PJ can duplicate that type of game. We scored 19 points against the Falcon's bad defense. Our offense is pedestrian no matter who is under center, Sam or PJ.
-
Pretty much. Ironic isn't it.
-
This defense is different when Shaq's on the field, plus add in Gilmore. This can be a special defense.
-
I've been a big critic of his play. But he definitely has toughness.

Sam in our system in this team right now
Pantherxtreme replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
The most important place we need to add talent is at the QB position. Can't believe you guys are in here comparing Sam Darnold to Dak Prescott. How many games did Dallas win last season after Daks injury? Oh but it's the system and Oline there, yea right. -

We won 5 games last season with lesser talent and played one fewer game. How could 5 wins possibly be an improvement. The reality of the matter is the defense has improved but the offense and special teams are going in reverse. The offense is especially concerning because this coaching staff decided to put all of their chips in with Sam, and neither his past performance with his former team nor his play this season shows any merits for making that decision. -

Sam's a better Qb than Dak but the Panthers are holding him back. Yep think I've heard it all at this point. -
If that Watson trade had gone through we would have been a bonafide playoff contender this season and as long as you're in the dance anything can happen. The defense is good, they would be even better if they were able to play with leads and not constantly on the field due to 3 and outs. Both Watson and McCaffrey have put up MVP caliber seasons before behind not so great offensive lines. And I know Robby's gotten fat and lazy DJ Moore's making business decisions apparently. But they were one of the best 1-2 threats just a season ago.

Rapaport: Panthers/ Tepper out of Watson deal
Pantherxtreme replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes atleast the running around will be more entertaining. Outside of his dirt balls PJ had 1 throw in his 2 or 3 series that looked better than anything Darnold did all game. -

I'll rather watch PJ run around than watch whatever Darnold was doing against the against the Giants last game. -

They probably thinking "if only we can get Jonathan Ogden and Orlando Pace to block for Sam on the line he wouldn't be so jittery and keep throwing it to the other team."
