At what point do they just have to bench Darnold?

That would be correct. -
Joe Brady Press Conference After the PHI Game

Aha well if that's the case. This is definitely the season for Brady to show his mustard. If he's the offensive guru everyone proclaimed him to be. If not then maybe Teddy was right. -
Joe Brady Press Conference After the PHI Game

WIth the defense and running backs on this team, they could have won many games with a game manager like Bridgewater. There's some myth on this board that you need a Mahomes to win a Superbowl. Denver whipped us in the Super bowl when Manning's arm was completely shot. The 49ers got to the big game riding a great defense and ball control offense with Jimmy G. But maybe you guys are right, you definitely need a big arm to deliver those long comeback routes that defensive backs are sitting on and keep getting picked off. -
Joe Brady Press Conference After the PHI Game

And that hubris of dumping Teddy will haunt them this season and bite them in the you know what. We had a veteran QB who was one of the fastest at diagnosing and getting the ball out of his hands, "ooh the dreaded check downs" and that was able to mask how much deficiency we had on the offensive line. The offense was in much more in rhythm, the problems last season wasn't turnovers are even moving the ball between 20's it was in the red-zone we couldn't score TD's and kicked to many field-goals. So Rhule and Brady went out and required Sam, thinking their system and coaching could turn around his career, even though he's been one of the worst performing Qb's when being pressured. And they do very minimal to build an oline around him and now the same problems that plaque him in New York is happening here. So now Rhule and Brady are being exposed a little, they have been very arrogant with their handling of the QB position, subsequently with all the pieces they added on the defense, that side of the field was ready to compete for the division this season. I think this upcoming game against the Vikings will tell us alot about the way remaining season will play out. -
I'm not placing all the blame on the quarterback, but I am going to hold him to the same standard that was applied to other quarterbacks. Protect the football, that's something that he can control.
-
No Edwardo. I never said it gave me the authority on anything you indicated I didn't know what I was speaking about because I disagreed with your opinion. I simply stated I'll put my experience and knowledge up against yours any day of the week. You made it personal not me. Again Sam has done some good things but this offense hasn't really looked efficient all year, they had leads for the most part and he hasn't been asked to do too much. I stand by what I said so far trading for Donald appears to be a lateral move from a season ago.
-
I don't care if he disagrees with my analysis this is my opinion. I'm chuckling at you trying to question someone's football acumen. 5 ints in 2 games doesn't spell great quarterbacking no matter how you spin it.
-
Old man I played football for surely at a higher level than your ass. I know what good Qb play looks at we are getting mediocre at best. Can he improve hopefully. But right now the investment is on the downward turn.
-
The only game he's look impressive in was the New Orleans game if you want to keep it a buck. He struggled against the Jets, our defense nearly broke Zach Wilson in half yet they were still with us until the very end. The Houston game was still iffy until the 4th quarter with a 3rd string rookie. He got Diggs paid for the Cowboys and resurrected Darius Clay season. We 3-2 because of our defense let's not play any games about that.
-
And even more ridiculous to think we traded draft picks for what we saw yesterday. What an improvement!!
-
And what will I record be with a top ten defense this season if they don't check out?
-
This is the same weapons we had last season when Joe Brady was the talk of the league; trade Marshall for Samuel & Mike Davis for Hubbard. Ball distribution was much better almost had 3 separate 1000 yard receivers. Robby Anderson was considered a steal in free agency and underrated signing. Now he's lazy and can't run routes. This place is amazing lol. yea every position is subpar on offense this season, even the Qb play.

Rhule blames the D when asked about offensive struggles
Pantherxtreme replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hey Defense I know you guys have held the Eagles to their lowest yardage total of the season, turned them over multiple times. I know our offense has thrown 3 picks, and been virtually shut out in the 2nd half. And oops Special teams just had a punt blocked. I know why Rhule is doing this, but "C'mon Man" -
And so far neither has Sam. Thankfully he has a much better defense and hasn't needed any "game winning drives" except for yesterday of his own doing with the turnovers. I'm Panthers fan first and foremost so I want Donald to succeed, but I also call a spade a spade. And moving on from Teddy to bring Donald here was a lateral move at best and we traded away draft picks to do it.

What great defense did Bridgewater play with last season. Defense was dead last on 3rd downs with getting off the field. This year we either ranked #1 or at the very tops in the league, defense is getting the ball back to the offense, and we're not doing much with it. Much risk, very little reward so far. Both teams are 3-2 at the same point of the season. With two different ranked defenses.
-
And I'll take a QB that protects the ball when I have a defense that's playing great and I'll beat your risk taker 9 out of 10 times.

I'm holding Sam to the incrediblely high standard the quarterback from last season was unfairly held to, especially on this board. Even though he was completing over 70 percent of his passes and had the offense humming and efficient to the point that people were calling Joe Brady and offensive wizard lol. He was crucified on these board even on completed passes, "look how the ball just floated in the air". Has one of the highest completion percentages "but yea, look at the touchdown/int ratio". After 5 games it was 5/3, current ratio 6/6. Last season it was the defense that was the weak unit and needed to come up to speed, and it was the offense that was being lauded "Carolina rebuilding team but has a nice group of weapons". Now it's looks like we're back to the one man McCaffrey show to have any shot. But apparently the coaching staff and front office agreed with the yahoos on here and shipped Bridgewater off and traded picks for Donald, so yea he better be the 2nd coming. What good was it to take two steps forward on defense this season, only just to take one step backward on offense. Wth this defense and 2nd year in the offense TB would have this team 4-1 now instead of 3-2. Last season Moore, Anderson, Samuel all had breakout seasons, I know it was Joe Brady lol. This season Robby Anderson and a talented rookie Terrace Marshall looking like Keary Colbert and Drew Carter to DJ Moore's, Steve Smith. So yea Donald needs to produce, we have a defense ready to compete this season and a superstar running back in his prime when McCaffrey comes back. If Donald isn't it, what a complete bungle by the front office.

Teddy never had a game this bad, and he was having to chase points last season, because our defense was rebuilding and we couldn't stop the run or get off the field on 3rd downs. Sam's been gifted with leads and dominant defensive play and we're eeking out wins against bottom feeders and this Sunday that snake finally bit us. I saw Teddy go toe to toe with Mahomes and KC with a way less talented Panthers team. I see Sam needed this defense to play wall to wall for 4 quarters to even have a chance in these games.

Watching Rashawn Slater be great makes me sad and angry.
Pantherxtreme replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
This We could have Orlando Pace and Jordan Gross as our tackles if Daley, Paradis, and Miller are still the "anchors" in the middle, all any team has to do is stunt their best pass rushers up the middle and it's sack city all game. -
Of course Teddy would have won this game today, while not flashy he's a game manager and moves the chains, same thing he's doing in Denver, he did here and New Orleans. That's all we needed today for the W was a game manager with the way the defense played. But Donald put on his not good Jake impersonation but bad Jake impersonation and gave a Eagles team that was dead in the water a reason to keep fighting by not putting the game away.

Positionless Players and the Problem with Being Anti Meta.
Pantherxtreme replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
I didn't quote you, so your op wasn't who that post was responding to. No defense in the NFL is perfect, and no modern NFL defense is going to shut down an offense for the entirety of the game. Outside of the Dallas game the run defense has been above average. Eagles have one of the best duel threat Qb's in the league as far as being able to run the ball. That puts stress on run fits when you have to account for that. Unbeknownst to Panther fans but some teams do have competent offensive lines that can get you a yard or two when it's needed. -

If the offense would have gave us atleast 1 quarter that would have been enough to beat the Eagles. -
Positionless Players and the Problem with Being Anti Meta.

Yea the defense creates back-to-back turnovers and you get great field position and no points off of them. That darn defense if they could of gotten atleast one more turnover we would have won it I tell ya. -

Pantherxtreme replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
Any defense will get worn down meta or not if the offense is being a 3 and out machine. The offense puts up atleast a average performance we win this game going away. But when you have the same amount of turnovers as you have points scored for an entire half, it's not much else the defense can do.
