Just tuned in and saw Tet’s first TD, love it. How bad was Bryce’s pick?

Let's give it a decent sample size before making any proclamations. I've seen some encouraging progress on D but still a lot of problems with it as well.

Brown and Horn are legit. Rest of the D needs work but those are 2 real solid pieces to build around. Health obviously the only caveat, but Horn's injuries seem to be behind him (knock on wood) and Brown has picked up right where he left off after missing a year. Not trying to beat the dead horse but I still think we need to switch back to the 4-3 and get Brown a pass rush specialist to pair with in the middle. Imagine prime KK Short with Brown eating up space. Star was solid but Brown is on another level -- prime KK could've put up 20 sacks in a year if our D was the same then except with Brown instead of Star.

‘16, ‘17, ‘18, ‘20, ‘21 are all easily better than ‘23 and it’s really not particularly close. You need to take into account the context and situations and more stats than just yards lol. Under 10 yards per reception is terrible. He barely put up decent yardage and had a lot of catches because he was de facto #1 in a terrible offense and check down Bryce would feed him balls, largely in garbage time since the team was so atrocious that year. He was fine but it was about as far from a “career year” as you can get. And anyone who has actually watched the guy play throughout his career could tell that here he was never anywhere near the weapon he was in his prime in Minnesota.

Raw yards is a silly thing to look at, he had very very similar per game yards numbers in 2020 and 2021 but with 14 and 10 TDs (in 15 and 13 games), compared to 4 with us in 17 games. He barely cracked 1000 with us in 17 games despite being the clear #1 target for a team for the first time in his career and was under 10 yards per reception. In no way, shape or form was that a career year for him. Decent compiling for a WR his age but that’s it. Absurd to claim that was a career year and credit Bryce with giving him a career year lol

Maye sucks, his receivers were wide open all game and getting a ton of YAC. He can scramble but not a franchise QB level passer. But yeah still much better than Bryce lol

I mean what else should he say? Blame all the players like other coaches we’ve had? He’s not a good coach at all but I don’t think he’s a guy to deflect blame. Even though I suspect he was told by Tepper/Morgan that he had to try to make it work with Bryce.
