Both are currently under contract for next year

I honestly can't imagine any scenario where we keep Dalton next year. If we can somehow find a sucker to trade him to, dead cap will be $3.5m, otherwise a bit over 5, which we can do post June 1st to spread across a couple years. We'd be saving about $2M towards the cap in either scenario which is 100% well worth it as he is purely dead weight on the roster right now and that Bills game made clear we need to upgrade backup QB badly (sure that could come in the form of upgrading the starter and making Bryce backup, either way Dalton can't be in the plans next year).

  2. I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.

The same reason we celebrated game-winning drives from Jake Delhomme in 2003 with performances like:

    • 96 yards, 2 INTs
    • 181 yards, 1 TD 1 INT
    • 148 yards, 0 TDs

I do not give a crap how we win, I just want to win. And we're winning for the first time in a decade.

2003 was a different time, man. And as mentioned before Jake was never expected to be a franchise QB, bryce was expected to be that and more. Funny enough, Jake's career passer rating is higher than Bryce's despite how favorable the league is to QBs now vs. when Jake played.

He is a good coach but that is not a good roster. They have been quite lucky.

I have never seen a player become overrated as quickly as he has.  It's mind-boggling.

As someone who lives in boston and has to deal with those fans, it's absolutely insane lol. Anyone with half a brain could look at their schedule this year and be like "yeah makes sense the QB has good numbers and they have a good record." I don't think I've ever seen a full schedule over the course of a season as easy as theirs this year, and they still barely beat some of those terrible teams. Their opponents are a combined .357 win %, next lowest is the Bills at .431. Our opponents for reference are a combined .500.

I figured Aaron Rodgers being a Packer would be the reason for all those years.

Fair enough but I don’t really think people hate him as a player except for your division rivals. And he didn’t start getting off the field hate until the very end of his pack tenure. Packers Panthers have had some decent games over the years but I think for the most part neither team is all that relevant to the other

  6. Even if Canales wants to win games by focusing on possession and ball control with more of a power run game and short passes, having an actual deep passing threat will make doing all of that much easier. And Bryce is not a deep passing threat, so teams don't really have to defend it.

The best coaches do adjust to their players though, we've seen multiple years now of Andy Reid's elite offensive mind and Mahomes' elite arm be somewhat deliberately neutralized by their lack of receivers and OL (that's changed this year, clearly, now that their WRs are healthy and OL improved). The past 2 years they became more of a manage the game type offense and let the defense win. And it worked to the tune of a SB win and another appearance.

if we can go into greenbay and win, no W is off the table

    playoffs in sight

if you say otherwise, **** you

Completely agree that no W is off the table but considering some of our losses no L is off the table either… Team is inconsistent, not surprising for a young team finding its identity. 2 division games coming up, both games we should win but division games are always tough/weird. I’ll start believing we could be a playoff team if we take care of business these next 2 games. After that schedule gets tough again.

Man....I would love to have a dynamic no.2 corner.  We are leaving plays on the field. This is worse than him not being able to return that pick 6 a couple weeks ago. Lol

Donte was dynamic and in his prime with a healthy Norman or Horn caliber corner across from him would’ve been great. Too bad the timing didn’t line up

You gonna be mad at Greg Olsen now?  He just laid it all on Bryce.  It was a stupid decision to slow up like that.  Nothing cheap about the hit.

100% agree, what I don’t like though is the refs picking up the flag with video assistance, I can’t think of a time we ever had video assistance review help us

Yeah, especially if Brooks' rehab is going well. I wouldn't want to depend on him for anything beyond promising depth after back to back ACLs but I'd be open to moving Chuba and his contract and giving Rico more snaps.

I'm all for trading Chuba but I would not be expecting anything at all from Brooks in the NFL. View any contribution from him as purely a bonus cherry on top, but I would have different plan A, plan B and plan C at the position before Brooks if we trade Chuba, don't sign Rico, etc.

We don't have great young talent at WR and TE. We have young potential at WR and TE. They are NOT great - yet.

Tet is already great. Coker is at least a solid 3rd option, possibly more (hard to evaluate without a QB to get him the damn ball though). TE and Legette suck, rest of the WR depth sucks too. But more importantly for a young QB our OL when healthy is great. This is a pretty good situation for a young QB to come into and develop. Well, except for Canales and his mindboggling playcalling and playing time decisions.
