Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around.

Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years,

Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes.

Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community.

I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol.

Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures.

Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?

We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers.

Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.

He should've been more than a JAG, but Jeremy Chinn.

I was convinced he was our next defensive star

He wasn't a JAG, he's been a starter every year of his career. Didn't turn into the superstar it seemed like he might his rookie year, but I think part of that has been being misused. Guy was/is a baller.

  3. I joined in 2014 after lurking for several years. Man those first several years were fuging amazing for the huddle, lot of great and funny posters who are now gone like SCP, phillyB, had Huddle "premium" with training camp write ups and photos/video, etc. Sucks that Igo just gave up on the place. I still come here first for panthers news and discussion but it's been way less than in the past. hopefully someone like big kat can revive this place,

Eh… like the 4.37 speed, but from the highlights they showed, it looks more like a straight line speed and not the quick shifty slot that we needed.

Just don’t see Bryce being able to take advantage of this type of weapon with his arm.

Honestly this pick suggests we aren’t sold on Bryce and that’s a great sign if so. There weren’t really any real opportunities to upgrade this offseason but next year there could be.

  5. I get McVay and Rams’ fans point of view but also look at the Packers with Love, that was definitely a great move in hindsight to keep them competitive past their aging MVP QB. Also Stafford’s career was literally in question just this past offseason due to injuries. IDK anything about Simpson and seems like it was a reach but I also understand going for the QB you want and being fine with him sitting behind a guy like Stafford for a few years. You have a feeling he’ll wind up being a solid QB for them long term, but it certainly could blow up in their faces. Not terribly risky though since the pick was basically house money from the falcons

I would like Thieneman still, and I’m trying to figure out how Freeling fits considering we signed the guy the Packers released too.  I’d expect they view Freeling as a starter.  So unless they plan on moving on from Moton, it’s less value than Thieneman who would be an instant starter.

Well Ickey could easily miss the start of the season or more and if he is able to come back he could start with Freeling. Packers guy’s contract is fine for a swing tackle and good insurance if Ickey doesn’t come back this year, which is very possible

And every year knocked out of the playoffs by an inferior team.

Lmao the only inferior team they were ever knocked out by was the Rags. Panthers and Lightning won cups, when we lost to Boston they were the top team in the east. We’d kill for the Panthers to make the playoffs and win at least one game every year for 7 straight years. Canes are an incredible franchise right now

It could’ve been you, but someone posted awhile back the stats on guys coming back from torn patellas and until that post, I never realized how bad of an injury it was in terms of prognosis and ability to return to form.

After reading that paired with the extension, I just went ahead and assumed he was done here whether any of us knew it or not.

Wasn’t me but yeah I saw that too, there was some conflicting info but I was under the impression the Packers guy was our Ickey insurance. I admittedly didn’t follow pre-draft stuff much but didn’t seem like OT was projected at all? I was excited about Thieneman but oh well

Should’ve taken Thieneman. Wonder if the team thinks Ickey is 100% cooked? Idk anything about this guy but hopefully he’s good. I will rarely complain about offensive line, it’s so damn important. Also of course they go to commercial during our pick like always

I suppose it doesn’t mean Ickey is completely cooked as if he comes back we could have this guy and Ickey and let Moton walk. Packers guy we signed obviously just a 1 year stopgap

If we're just looking for a body, get one that we haven't seen before. Draft a late round prospect or an udfa with traits. Take a look at something different. If both are getting cut anyway, I'd rather take a shot on the guy that has .1% of becoming something than the guy that's already proven he's 100% of nothing as a QB prospect.

We can do that too. Teams need 4-5+ QBs for camp

I mean it was dirty, I hope they dont

When you look closely at the play it was careless from Melo but bang bang full speed I don’t think it was intentional or dirty or deserving of a foul. Bam’s off balance momentum was already carrying him towards a fall and even if Melo didn’t touch him it may have had the exact same outcome. And honestly I think he did try to sell it more when he felt LaMelo’s hand. Dudes arms flopped back instead of bracing for the fall. Sucks he got hurt but a suspension would be ridiculous and an awful look for the league. Fine and move on
