  1. My personal two cents: I'm not here to tell people how to run this site. I'm just saying those responsible for keeping some semblance of order and civility will undermine their credibility and make the overall experience worse if they are instigators themselves.
  2. Not the wisest thing to put out there after one of his worst performances of his college career.
  3. First off, Young took some nasty shots during the Miami game and he's not currently in IR. Certainly cannot continue to have that but as of now, questions about durability have likely shifted towards AR in Indy, fair or not. Deep passes a concern? It always has been for me but less so not being able to connect and more having the raw strength to throw heaters if that was needed. I just find it difficult to properly assess how much the issue can be attributed to Young when the conditions necessary to even attempt deep shots on a consistent enough basis are simply not there. Side note: I still remember when Josh Allen, someone who has a rocket arm, was utterly putrid with the deep ball his rookie year. My biggest red flag about Young was that his strengths, his accuracy/ball placement, would not translate to the NFL. At least for now, his rapport with Thielen is a positive sign given he is the type of receiver Young should work well with. Chark, not as much but I would need more insight on why he's not an effective substitute for DJ Moore. Personally, Young would work best with twitchy YAC receivers which makes me continually questioning drafting Mingo because I don't see him as a good fit at all. Holding the ball too long is an issue although I expected it; rookie QB's often learn this the hard way. Only time will tell if Young picks this up. What magnifies the issue is that he's trying to extend the play when we don't really have playmakers that could get themselves open. Long story short, Young's abilities aren't the flashy gunslinger scrambling type that we've had in the past. Even if our pass pro and run game was where we thought it would be, my expectation was more efficient football than exciting football. Unfortunately, too many pieces around the QB are not being effective enough and if we want a definitive answer on Young, those need to be fixed first.
  4. Don't have a first rounder next year and so he's likely getting two years minimum. At least right now, what I see is a mismatch between the type of QB we drafted and the roster currently assembled around him.
  5. Can't we just convert an Ugly to a tight end instead of Ian Thomas? Keep the blocking capabilities and I'd bet an Ugly would have better hands as well.
  6. If we did actually switch to more of a zone blocking scheme... why? All this talk about making the scheme work for the players and yet, we change the one thing that was working, a component that would make a rookie QB's job a lot easier. Fitterer has been a disappointment but I ultimately can't say whether prior decisions (or even current ones) have been influenced by other people that don't know what they're doing (Rhule/Tepper). I almost don't want it to be the latter because that would end up being a fundamental problem that can't be solved by the next hire. Defensively, injuries have not helped at all but the run defense is a liability that can no longer be ignored. Overall, disappointed that for all the supposed intelligent staff we brought in, we have not played intelligent football. Too many mistakes on the field and on the sidelines. Simply cannot continue. How to fix it? I certainly don't have all the answers but when we decided to give up all that draft capital for the #1 pick, we made our bed with what we have now for at least this season and likely the next one as well. Maybe the only thing everyone can agree on is that if Tepper is influencing any football decisions out there, that has to stop now. He has been the one constant through all of this.
  7. @Mr. ScotBest wishes to you and your wife. As another longtime poster, last few years have been rough so I understand. Hope you both are able to watch the game live so at least one of you will be happy by the end.
  8. Still don't like the decision of throwing the pass but at the time, I hated the play design that basically allowed one corner to easily cover two guys. If Mingo was supposed to go deeper in his route, then that would explain it.
  9. That's the life of being a first round pick. Fair or not, the expectations are set sky high and nowadays, the success of a HC/GM is tied to that individual. However, to say the team is giving Young an environment to succeed right now would be disingenuous. If there is potential with Bryce and it can survive through this, then he'll be just fine.
  10. I do fear the constant interior pressure is playing a factor. That's what was needed to shut down guys like Brady and Brees, quarterbacks that weren't supreme athletes themselves. Young is mobile enough for more designed rollouts, however. And do it early in the game on 1st down rather than waste it on a run that goes nowhere.
  11. Last I remember, the scheme was supposed to be a 60/40 combination from Reich and Brown. Whatever the case, it's bad enough that we struggle to score points but if his calling of plays is affecting his ability to perform his duties as a head coach, well, the answer is rather obvious.
  12. Somewhat discouraging that JT says he doesn't really know what the answer is to our offensive struggles given what we have. That said, couple of takeaways: 1. Way too many screens. Seems like a Reich tendency and unless it's a creative one and/or it goes to Chark/Shenault, rip it out of the playbook. 2. Coaching staff has to get Young to take more chances. I do suspect they are limiting his opportunities to do so because we have protection issues and lack of playmakers but while interceptions can affect confidence, so does taking a chance and having it pay off. If we are going to lose regardless, go down learning how to swing. 3. Why in the world are we asking Thielen of all people to try double moves? We have maybe two guys on the roster that could make that work. 4. Where are our tight ends in this offense? And no, Ian doesn't qualify as one. 5. Similar to 4, where is DJ? Seems that Thielen is the primary way too many times.
  13. Was retaining Campen a mistake? I'll be honest. I thought pass pro kinda sucked last year considering how we ran at will against some awful run defenses.
  14. It's somewhat like if Barry Sanders was able to play for the 90s 49ers. Surprise, surprise, a playmaker surrounded by other playmakers is going to explode.
  15. Eh, it's been a bitchfest from the beginning. Different names, same verse. Although I kinda miss when we called our DC Turdovac and the mental gymnastics to say Chris Weinke was a legit starter.
  16. Short drive for me but I quite enjoyed going to last year's game, especially on the train ride home where it was whisper quiet. Not going to chance going through the complete opposite experience.
  17. I noticed that we kept using a lot of playclock, a problem we've had in the past. I did note that having our first two games with a bunch of staff/player turnover be against division rivals is far from ideal. Those games are usually much harder and often have performances that are out of the ordinary compared to all the other games. Two games into a season is too early to make dramatic changes but my expectation is that if the offense remains stagnant, I expect that shift in approach. Otherwise, Reich hasn't really learned his lessons from Indy after all.
  18. I don't want to say this is the end for Shaq but it feels that way. Very unfortunate and I hope this isn't a trend for the season, losing key players every week.
  19. Same wish as I had months ago. Panthers win with Bryce Young passing for exactly... 283 yards.
  20. That "sprint" to the finish line was more like tripping and falling into a pile of manure.
  21. Not going to lose any sleep over this. I will wonder if Bill did this purely out of spite.
  22. Panthers receivers not being able to get separation? It's a running gag at this point. Also wouldn't surprise me if DJ Moore eventually comes back to us just like with Moose.
  23. Not even worth my money to buy it so I can burn it.
  24. The implication here is that the Rhule-drafted players aren't the brightest group out there. I'll defer on speculating on that aspect but it's quite common for holdovers from a prior regime to be gettisoned for various reasons. Given Frank's offensive background and drafting a QB with a high football IQ and overall accuracy, I'd be more worried if I was a Rhule drafted offensive player. At the least, they could end up being used in trades or replaced by cuts from other teams.
