  1. Young winning with exactly 283 yards passing would be the most proper way to open the season.
  2. 3,300 Yards, 65% completion, 20 TD/14 INT
  3. So we have the player with the fastest "Pen to Paper" time, eh?
  4. It's as though speculation about our first round pick is more chat-worthy than the actual pick itself. As being ambivalent about the whole thing since the beginning, I'm just relieved we can now move on. Let's see how this goes.
  5. ...so when will Rodgers be with the Vikings? Could see him have a resurgent year but even then, tougher division and the likelihood of facing Mahomes, Burrow and Allen in the playoffs? That is a hard ask.
  6. For me, Olive Garden is fancy so I wouldn't even know half the items on the menu.
  7. My position has remained the same: I can't get excited about this year's QB class at all. I want to be wrong that this isn't the 2013 QB class all over again.
  8. Well, the Sam Darnold experience didn't work out but I do feel he'll be fine as a journeyman QB. Assuming he can stay healthy which is unlikely given how jinxed the 49ers QB position has been recently.
  9. Given how the Bengals were able to draft Burrow and then pair him up with Ja'Marr Chase, giving up DJ in the trade in lieu of additional picks seems like a rational move. Receivers are easier to find and if we're really doing our homework, we may even find another good one later in this year's draft. Also, whatever cap savings we get also helps. The big thing for me was giving up only one future 1st rather than multiple. Meanwhile, Fields has another target to throw to although history of receivers going to Chicago to die is well documented. Both sides got something valuable out of the trade. Media is probably a bit miffed that they have to talk about us now instead of Chicago for the next few weeks.
  10. Not going to lie. The news caught me by surprise. If this had happened during the used car salesman's tenure, I would've been panicking. There is still some trepidation on my end because frankly, I don't really care for this year's QB class at all. But if this staff sees a potential future superstar QB that was worth making this move in the first placen, then so be it. Stating the obvious but who we pick and what happens with this player is going to determine whether the Reich era (and likely Fitterer's) will be a short lived one.
  11. I'm not surprised at all. After all, when we had games when we were able to get easy run yards at will, there was less need to depend on whoever was behind center. Obviously didn't work every time so I presume the quantity of run-run-pass was higher. Lots of 3rd and long when our runs went nowhere. As for the Cowboys, wonder if that's scewed because of all the games without Dak. Finally, do have to keep in mind that a lot more pass attempts nowadays are effectively runs because the routes are short and chunk yardage isn't usually expected.
  12. I'd been advocating for a while that we're going to need a replacement for Moton in the near future. Not sure if I want to use this year's first for it but then again, we had drafted Luke Kuechly when we still had Jon Beason (although I believe this was after Beason was out for an entire season due to injury). Don't really know how Skoronski stacks up but if he's seen in a similar light to Ickey last year, I can see us making this move, especially if we go the bridge QB option.
  13. Way too high of a price when this year's class is thin and underwhelming. And honestly, I can easily see the price being even higher still for us. Namely, the Bears not wanting to drop down so far, plus our future 1sts not being as valuable given how putrid our division was this year and our staff - on paper- being more competent. Risk of our picks being in the 20s for them is much higher.
  14. We're going from the clown show to the most frightening group of hardcore football professionals ever assembled.
  15. If the last decade is any indication, you're best off if your QB is still on their rookie contract or otherwise is at the top tier and worth paying for. Carr doesn't fall in either category. Also the fact his prior contract had those stipulations scares me. What he'll probably want will likely be too much financial and from a flexibility standpoint.
  16. Right now, we might be more attractive to players that have worked with one of our coaches before. Otherwise, we would have to demonstrate on-field success first.
  17. At the minimum, Reich has established enough respect around the league to pull in a great staff on paper. Whether it will lead to tangible results remains to be seen. The one major risk on bringing in a wealth of experience is an aversion to new ideas so additional staff who are more up and comers who may have little to no connection with Reich would be ideal.
  18. Nothing can be done about past decisions. All we can do is take our shots going forward. Just that the potential swings this offseason are not great and extremely expensive either from a cap standpoint or draft picks. Again, the one advantage we haven't had before is a staff more capable of drafting a guy that - years later - people will say was a steal because we were able to identify that QB who just needed to be fully developed and we were able to do it. If I had to bet money, this is what we will do and worst case, we try again next year with a much better roster to where we can afford to give up a lot more.
  19. If finding a franchise QB is as easy as people here make it sound, every team in the league would have one by now. There's that fantasy and the reality of not being in a great position to find someone this year. Our team isn't stacked enough to replicate what the Rams did by signing a FA QB - never mind that we may only get one shot at a run before the cap will blow up the team afterwards - and we're too far down in the draft in a year where the QB class is very thin. Obviously, take a shot at it but don't be stupid and give up everything for one guy and have nothing left over to put pieces around them. That said, our staff as it stands - at least on paper - may be the best we've ever had in terms of actually developing a QB who may need a bit of work. Someone other than the top two QBs may be the most realistic option and even then, we'll probably need another guy to be a bridge. Finally, finding the guy helps a lot but it's still no guarantee. Burrow got to a SB and lost. Allen has yet to reach a SB. Herbert hasn't even won a playoff game so far. Meanwhile, we've seen guys like Goff, Jimmy G and Purdy went much further than anyone expected while backup Nick Foles actually beat Tom Brady in the big game. Basically, improve our odds the best we can given the options that are feasible.
  20. And then the referee nation attacked...
  21. I was about to say the refs had - for the most part - been not that intrusive but to make a call right there...
  22. Whatever happens, we've been treated to a pretty good Super Bowl.
