The man that should be our top target in FA
mickeye76 replied to NJPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah. Huff should be the target. Even if by some miracle we keep Burns, Luvu and Brown adding another pass rusher is more important than adding Barkley. The good news is this is not like recent drafts where smaller scat type backs are the flavor. This year has a bunch of Barkley clones. BIG, freakish fast and decent receiving skills. Draft a younger and cheaper potential Barkley. -
In this draft we also trade Burns to the Lions for the 29th pick along with future picks. At 29 we take Worthy. Then we rebuild the interior with Coop and Van Prann. Add Thrash to go along with Worthy. Later rounds we take RB and TE. Revamped offense.

Officially Entering My Vote for WR Keon Coleman
mickeye76 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like his WR partner Johnny Wilson a bit more. Wilson is a unicorn. 6'7" running a 4.5 at 225. He might be a reach at 33 and I have doubts he is going to last till 65. So.. that's a conundrum. That said if we trade out of 33 but stay in that top 50 he is my target over even Keon. -
Versatility is going to make him valuable. Would be a great pick for us. Him and Cooper are the top guards. Much like Jackson-Powers he might be a 1at round target for someone needing interior line help.

Yet another player moving into a better position in the draft through the process. Fact is we are better served to find the diamonds that were later rounders that have had similar accessions. Just not rising out of reach but into contesting for that mid tier. Guys like Malik Washington, Thrash, McMillan, and Coker are our targets. Too many WR's are going to go in the first for us to get the pick of the litter. How many is a litter? I could see 6 to 7 WR's go in the first.

Evans was never a option here. Why would he? Money? Are there not a half dozen other teams with similar or better free agency money? I don't care honestly. Evans is due for a slump. Heck we were able on several occasions to shut him down to mediocre stats in recent memory. He is a decent player but the timeline doesn't match up. He is looking for a ring and padding his stats. KC, Jets or Baltimore make way more sense. Our hope is to find a mid tier FA that needs a change of scenery and add youth in the draft. Evans, Higgins, etc are dreaming. Smith-Marsette, Mingo, and AT are the guys here and hopefully a double dip in the draft with a mid tier FA. Three new WR's to the mix is the goal. Evans is highly unlikely to be one of them.

My realistic plan to fix the offense……what’s yours?
mickeye76 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Complete overhaul. Mooney or Gabe Davis as FA WR target. Jonnu Smith was recently released so bring him in at TE. Then in draft interior depth at guard and Center. Also don't be scared to take a tackle at 33. Add a another RB in FA or later rounds of draft. This RB free agency is ridiculous. Lots of big names but look for 2nd tier guy that's being overlooked. RB, TE, two offensive lineman and at least two WR's. I know we have limited draft capitol so FA needs to be explored. -
I've given up on the hope that he will be there at 33. Setting sights on Van Prann or Frazier now. Not at 33 but maybe 65.

We got to let the dominos fall. So many needs that BPA is the way. I'm not tied to WR as the pick. If a top OL, CB, or DL is there at 33 you do it. Honestly RB, Safety or ILB are the few positions I would be disappointed by. We need help everywhere almost.
-
Not a bad situation for Caleb. Not really, the FO is killing every off season. Roster will be young and full of high picks. DJ Moore is legit and they can add another potential top tier WR at 9. He is being drafted into a solid rebuild.
-
Goal was to make the team more physical. Kingsley could fit either guard or maybe even LT. Sweat is a old school massive NT. Allen is a bruiser RB. I think a two headed monster running game could help Young. Then weapons. Coker has outside WR speed and size. Theo and Jackson could work the middle of the field.
-
I vote crazy. We need to improve depth and upgrade. Shuffling the line makes sense. Try BC at LT, slide Iky over to guard and Center should be a target in the draft. If Jackson-Powers is there at 33 I would take him over WR even. I don't think he will be though. Dream scenario for me is a trade down from 33 to somewhere in between 40 to 48 gaining a pick around 69 and 76. With those picks and 65 adding say a Van Pran, Mahogany and WR. Then at 101 TE or double dip at WR. Offense needs a lot of help.

Jones is a winner. Why would he want to come here and lose? Almighty dollar? Nah he got his pick of destination. One where can win and make money. Bengals, Ravens, Texans, and Bears etc. We need to draft our own Jones.

Burn this goddamn team to the ground
mickeye76 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Same. I wanted scoot but I'm on board. -
This is win. Gordon never fit on the court and wasn't on it enough.
-
It's a varied group of WR's. Their are several skill sets, strengths and styles. Also a couple athletic freaks. Pearsall seems like a Keenan Allen comparison. Or new school St Brown. We need to throw two darts at that draft board. Fingers crossed Tez and Pearsall would be a good combo.

Looks like we get to keep Ejiro Evero!
mickeye76 replied to Loyalty4Life's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nothing is written in stone. E is obviously an up and coming coach but after this past year I would not be surprised if he wants to jump ship. I'd like to keep him and keep Luvu and Brown long term. Sticking with the 3-4 and adding pieces to that. Luvu should be a pass rushing edge style linebacker instead of the inside he was forced into by injuries. Brown as a DE beside a legit NT also would be interesting. So NT and a DE that fits a 3-4 would be targets. I would not be opposed to going to a 4-3 if we lose Envero, Luvu and Burns in the off season actually. I don't know what coach would be available. If we switch defensive schemes (again) then the draft strategy switches to adding a MLB, a pass rushing DT beside Brown and a pass rusher at DE to replace Burns. I'd rather stay the course with E but... -
Watched a bit of the drills today. Oline is of particular interest. As well as sleeper WR prospects need to be watched. Stocks will rise and fall cause of these showcases. I just hope we have competent talent evaluators there to take notes.

Rumor of Burns traded to Baltimore (probably baseless rumor)
mickeye76 replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
Somebody needed to write a piece. Silly off season fluff. No different than me posting on here except this guy gets paid to do so. Sadly I can't see a team giving us a 1st for Burns. We have NO leverage. He doesn't want to be here and Fitterer screwed negotiations up. At this point a 2nd round pick is the goal. Trade down from 33 hoping someone has a hard on for a QB and a draft day trade of Burns for another 2nd is my dream. The top 100 picks is the meat of this draft ( it often is ) we need multiple picks in this area and rebuild the roster. Our pick at 101 is not bad either. If a situation arises where we can group our later rounds together for a higher pick is an option too. Burns is not a raven. A Ram maybe. A Viking maybe. But the Ravens can't really think he would move the needle. He didn't do it here either. -
Trade down to acquire more picks and In this scenario we tag and trade Burns to Minnesota for the 42nd pick and guess who was there in this draft? Cooper Beebe. Dude, Powers and Cooper could help rebuild the oline quickly. Sweat and Robinson are pieces for the 3-4.
