Official Week 6: Cowboys @ Panthers Gameday Thread
Gregg S replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
The run defense has really shown up the past 2 weeks Dallas only had 31 yards rushing today, meaning the D has only allowed 50 yards TOTAL over the last 2 games. -
I'm right there with you, brother. I've been a Panther fan since the day the team was awarded to the Carolinas. We've had some good years, a couple of great years, as well as some low periods and no consecutive winning seasons. But I never thought I'd see such a period as we have over the past several years. It has gotten to the point of being rather apathetic in watching them. In fact, I told my wife before the Miami game I was watching just to see what new and creative way they lose another game. And early on, it looked like they would. But damned if Miami wasn't more creative than the Panthers. I'm now older than my Dad when he died (he was 65) and, like you, I've wondered if I'll ever see them have another winning season. I'd sure like to think I will.

It's great when the other team comes in and kicks their own ass. And we don't do anything to stop them from doing it.

The copium is strong with that guy. -
Whether he eventually gets drafted or not, the Sanders family is having to drink a great big helping of "Back Down to Earth" juice.

I'm old. I remember.

Anyone left who does not believe in Bryce ?
Gregg S replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm feeling much better than I was at the beginning of the year. When he was benched, I felt sure he was done, finito, gone, out the door. And when they didn't trade him before the deadline, I was wondering what they saw the the rest of us didn't. But since he was put back in after Dalton's wreck injury, he has played like a completely different QB. He has earned the starting job for next year. Like others, I want to see if he continues this forward trajectory or if we need to draft another QB in 2026. -

That's why so many archaeologists are women. They're just natural at digging up the past.

I believe that would be game 10 of the 2021 season. They were 5-5 after that game. Been rather downhill since. On second thought, it had been downhill for a while. Just hit a little flat spot for a few weeks.

One thing I've not seen mentioned is that after that tremendous block by Hunt, Lewis was right there to knock the same player out of pursuing Hubbard and getting back into the play although he probably wouldn't have anyway..

Most fun I've had watching a Panthers game since...hell, I can't remember when. -
Brad Idzik settles into his new OC role as players return
Gregg S replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh, I can just see the Huddle reaction if things don't go well with the offense this year. He'll forever be called "Top Idjit." -
Especially after Burns admitted to playing not to get hurt. What GM worth a poo is going to give you more than Dan got out of the Giants for a player that would do that or even say they did it? He did get a hefty contract from the Giants after the trade, but the trade value just wasn't there.

Gregg S replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
My wife and I were seated in the front row of the club section on the upper deck behind the end zone. Ram fans were all around us. When Smitty caught the ball he was running straight towards us. When the play started, the noise in the dome was deafening. By the time he reached the end zone, all you could hear was a smattering of Panther fans cheering around the stadium. It was glorious. -
The Denver owner is ranked higher than Tepper. Now if you want to change that to the Washington owner, who just started this season, you might have something. He's ranked dead last.. I also find the win percentage for Robert Kraft amusing. Deal with the Devil, maybe?

Bryce Young gets majority of first-team reps in first OTA practice
Gregg S replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly right. I know we've lost 2 SBs, but they were 12 years apart. Can you magine losing 4 straight? Damn, that would be demoralizing as well as humiliating. -
Yeah, he's always been that way, even as far back as the old Charlotte Observer Panthers forum. If he's ever said anything positive about the Panthers, I don't remember it. Now someone said earlier that the best 3rd & 1 or 4th & 1 QB was Tom Brady. He did it by getting low and basically going under the linemen. What better QB to do that than Young whose already closer to the ground?

We had a similar drill in high school, but involved all players. Win or lose, though, you got back in line. I tried to be ferocious in fumble drills and usually came up with the ball. Unfortunately, I broke a teammates arm in the 1-on-1 drill one day. But the drill did help as I recovered several fumbles during games.

Frank Reich's and Jim Caldwell's interviews from today
Gregg S replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, he's already tried the worst way possible, so hopefully with this staff, it will be better. -
And to top it off, we have that damn movie "80 for Brady" coming out, too. Which I will not be going to see.
