Every time this thread comes up I say the same thing. We are too one-dimensional. Get pucks in deep, forecheck, cycle, and then throw the puck at the net. It works when we are head and shoulders better than our opponent, but when our opponent is good enough in their own end, it can create issues offensively for us. It’s been proven that more high danger scoring chances come from the rush rather than cycling the puck. So if you’d like to know why we outshoot our opponent by 15 but only win by one goal, this is the reason why. I like the idea of putting Necas with better transition players and letting that line try to score on the rush more. Give me: Guentzel - Aho - Necas Svechnikov - Kuznetsov - Jarvis Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Drury - Teravainen Lemieux - Kotkaniemi Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Orlov - Chatfield DeAngelo - Morrow Andersen Kochetkov Martin

I’d also prefer McConkey or Corley over Leggette lol. Breakouts can certainly happen and they can carry over to the NFL but I personally would rather have the more consistent and fundamentally sound players. Otherwise we’ll be spending too much time trying to figure out how to make our athletes good football players when we could have just drafted good football players to begin with.

Wilson may have injury concerns but Cooper has some concerns in his own right. Why did it take him four years to produce at a high level? In Cooper’s three previous seasons he only totaled half a sack (though he hardly played his freshman year). Don’t get me wrong, Cooper had a great season but it could simply be because he’s bigger and faster than his competition now, he won’t have that luxury in the NFL. As far as his actual play, what makes him good could be a detriment at the NFL level. He’s a human missile and in college he’s faster than everyone, in the pros he’s going to have to dissect plays, I’ve seen tons of his highlights where I can guarantee you he’d overrun the play at the NFL level. He also plays way too upright. A lot of his success just screams, ‘I’m good because I’m bigger, faster, stronger, etc.’; that will have to change at the NFL level. Wilson in the other hand has been elite since his sophomore season.

This reminds me of one of our games against the Leafs, Boston is flying the zone as soon as we shoot from the point. Need to work the puck lower and shoot from higher danger areas so Boston stays home.

Tampa is on a heater again and my guy Anthony Duclair has 10 points in 11 games for them. Tampa and us are the hottest teams in the league right now with the Rangers and Stars right behind us. Would not shock me in the slightest if the Bolts take out the B’s in round one.

Eh they don’t bother me enough right now to hate them. I dislike all of their fans that left their state to move to NC but the Rangers as a whole don’t bother me other than Trouba being a dickhead. Over the past couple years we’ve won our division against them and split with them in the playoffs. They haven’t kicked our ass enough in meaningful games for me to absolutely despise them yet. For me, Boston was the team I despised the most and then Florida took over them. I hope we get a rematch with Florida in the playoffs this year and we kick their ass so I can move on lol. Now let’s say the Rangers were to win the division and eliminate us in the playoffs this year, they’d shoot to the front of the line.

I’ve never meant it to be an insult and most other NHL fanbases don’t either. The topic of calling the Rangers, “Rags” has been discussed many times on Reddit as well as HFBoards and I think the consensus is that most people are too lazy to type out Rangers. Rags is to the Rangers as Canes is to the Hurricanes, Habs is to the Canadians, Pens is to the Penguins, Nucks is to the Canucks, etc…

Definitely wouldn’t trade the pick. You never know when there’s going to be a run on a position that you are targeting. What you don’t want to have to do is trade up like we did last year for D.J. Johnson because of a run on a particular position group. We need to sit tight and take our guy.

We ended the Devils before they could even get started. Who knew that the Canes whooping their ass last year in the offs’ was going to send their franchise into a downward spiral. A team with Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, and Meier shouldn’t be that bad.

Nikishin will definitely be here by 25’ and I think Blake and Nadeau will be ready by then as well. The Canes won’t be rebuilding, they’ll be reloading.
