  1. This game is so eerily similar to SB50. The refs are fixing it and KC just isn't playing well enough to overcome it.
  2. Brady has slowly been transitioned to a robot over the past 20 years and he'll be playing when our grandchildren are watching. Maybe his ultimate goal will be to bring a Super Bowl to every team in the league.
  3. I think Panthers fans understand exactly what is happening right now.
  4. In NFL media news, Chris Wesseling of NFL.com and the Around the NFL podcast passed away this weekend from his second fight against cancer. I've listened to the Around the NFL podcast for 6 years. Chris seemed like a genuinely good guy with a brilliant football mind and there has been an outpouring of tributes from sports media and some NFL players on social media. It's really sad. Chris just got married a couple of years ago and his wife just had their baby last year.
  5. We've had no less than 20 threads about Watson in the past two weeks. Let's enjoy a slight change of pace.
  6. Unfortunately, I bet that someone won't read this thread and will start a new thread sometime today about that tweet.
  7. I didn't want to start the 20,001th Watson thread, so I'll stick this here. Rapsheet reporting the Panthers will be aggressive in going after Watson.
  8. I don't know anything about Watson as a person, but I could certainly see the appeal of the LA or Miami areas for a young, attractive, multi-millionaire. I am very, very skeptical about the Jets chatter. Other than Saleh, I don't see anything that's appealing about the Jets at all. Not to mention, given his unhappiness and issues with the McNair ownership, I'm not sure he'd be super happy about the Jets' owner literally being a part of the last President's administration. I think the biggest drawback for Miami is the Texans may not want to keep Watson in the conference. If it becomes an NFC only race, I could see it coming down to SF, the Rams, or the Panthers.
  9. The Lions might work with Stafford to trade him to a team he wants, absolutely. But this is also the team that made Calvin Johnson (one of the few players who made their team relevant for years) literally write them a seven figure check for his bonus when he retired, so I wouldn't put it past them not to care where Stafford goes as long as they get the best deal. It could go either way.
  10. Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that analysts were marvelling about how many teams had franchise quarters and how few QB needy teams there were? Things change so quickly.
  11. I know that the Saints don't seem to play by the same cap rules, or they have a magic cap fairy or something, but they are going to be $100m over cap and I think Aaron's cap hit is $30m next season. Not sure how they'd do it unless they cut everyone on the team and just signed a bunch of people off the street.
  12. Did anyone see Aaron Rodgers' post game presser? I didn't see it, but there is a LOT of Twitter chatter that he sounded like he was saying goodbye to the Packers. It's probably just emotions, and he's under contract until 2023, so likely not happening, but man. What a fun off-season it will be if Rodgers and Watson become available. And because this just feels inevitable somehow:
  13. I think TB looked like the better team today and deserved to win. GB had to do better capitalizing off the turnovers and going for it on 4th down. It's 100% their fault they lost. But deciding to throw a flag on that last drive after ignoring similar penalties all game is a terrible look.
  14. They've been letting them play all game and NOW they throw a flag to essentially end the game?
  15. yes, yes, let that desire flow through you
  16. I agree. I think an incentive for the hiring team would be more helpful than the current structure, but I guess they might be trying to overcome any systemic issues that suppress minority hiring at the lower levels.
  17. Do you think they spend 8 hours a day only talking about the GM position and didn't even bring up one of the biggest stories in their industry in that time?
  18. La Canfora says it's the 49ers who get the comp pick with Mayhew getting the GM job, which is consistent with how I understood the incentive works. It's supposed to encourage teams to develop minority talent. It may be that the 49ers threatened to block it, which they could do if Mayhew wasn't getting the GM title, to ensure he'd get hired as GM and they'd get the comp pick.
  19. Lol, it looks like he could have come here but chose the Steelers. Not sure whether I'm offended or thankful. (Thankful. Mostly thankful)
  20. It looks like Haskins only got a futures contract. Essentially, an invitation to training camp, so doubtful there is any significant money attached.
