We have to figure out our future core team
kungfoodude replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
When people balked at me saying "years" for this building, I couldn't really understand why. I don't think people appreciated how big this building effort was nor how bad our roster was(some of us tried to warn everyone here). This is not a small undertaking. It's massive. -

I guess that's true. I do think he is the only drafted player we have that is close to elite. I would be reluctant to let him go. -

His comments recently make him seem very much like he does not want to be here. -

He is a core player whether we like it or not. He just inked that deal. Trading him is cap suicide until after 2025. That is my ultimate fear. -

The real question is how long will we have to wait to get them? -
Week 8: Draft Status Update
kungfoodude replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I know people keep saying Canales is safe but.....1-16 might change that. Especially with someone like Tepper at the helm. -

I would say the actual core is basically just Brown. Potential core: Horn, Ikey Older core: Moton Players that make little sense to jettison: Hunt, Lewis, Ikey, rookies. Additional guys I would personally keep(price dependant) but not attached to: Woods, King of Pop, Dalton, BC, Corbett Everyone else is pretty much just on borrowed time. -
Trade everyone and fully rebuild..

Yeah, if another potentially elite tackle drops to you in a draft, maybe consider taking them so you can replace one of the guards(moving Ikey over) or Moton in the future. I understand that logic. But not just deconstructing literally the only good unit on the entire team(outside maybe the kickers). -

Yeah and finding an equivalent LT in free agency would cost a LOT of money. It's going to be a lot easier to find the Chuba's and Johnson's than another capable LT. I get the historic anger at Ikey(largely from last season) but that OL group is the last thing I would start dropping bombs on(this includes moving Moton) if we have any desire to add a rookie QB in the next few seasons. -

Yeah, I don't think trading a LT playing well is a smart move. How soon we forget the more than a decade of terrible LT play. I get that he isn't the second coming of Orlando Pace but he looks like he might have turned the corner to being above average. Do we want to suddenly create another critical roster need? -
The Carolina Panthers should go back to Bryce Young

And if anything it reduces the offseason trade value. -

People assume playing him makes this better. It does not. -
MFW the Bucs getting dunked on....
-
Was very worried about him at center but he has arguably been better than Corbett.
-
Nijam is really bad. He was a terrible offseason signing.
-
At least he is able to laugh about it too. Such is the life of a Panthers fan.

Todd Bowles legit never breaks from his "just smelled a fart" face. It's fuging strange.

I am in on Flowers and Moore but none of the rest of that. -
It's possible. We will see how it shakes out. I am only pushing back on the idea that we are a lock at #1. Stiffer competition than normal this year.
-
Gotta default to PPG because of the change in games per season.

You lost me at Darnold. He is very far from a "star." CMC trade was good. Overpaid(I would say this about literally any NFL RB) and injury prone. Also got an insanely good(probably will not be matched in the next 10 years) trade haul for a RB. We are just lightspeed retarded and squandered almost 100% of the proceeds. DJ Moore....Christ that one hurts so fuging bad. We have passed on so many stars and long term starters over the past 6 years in the draft that it is sickening. But, how else do you end up where we are if it isn't this sort of gross roster/draft mismanagement? Just go ahead and start investing in appropriate Panthers merch. -
I really don't think there is anyone in this draft worth trading up to #1 for. May end up being proven wrong but I don't want to be on the losing end of that sort of trade......again. I am still in favor of standing pat unless a wild trade offer is made. BPA all the way. IDC what position in that top 5 range. Just make it a clear cut and relatively safe second contract, solid starter. Elite if possible.

Hey, I am all for finally being on the positive end of a fleecing. It would be about fuging time.

Bro, only we are dumb enough to offer up someone like Crosby to get a potentially mediocre QB.
