  1. I think catnip was asking about whose decision it was to add him to the team here, but more info is never a bad thing. Thanks LP! Eason was signed to the practice squad 9/1/22, Rhule was fired a little over a month later on 10/10/22. So, yes, initially he was the coach at the time when he was picked up by the Panthers. Wilkes was the one in charge though when Eason got promoted to the active roster five days after that, so make of it what you will. The timing is what's odd about this to me. Is he so terrible that he can't even make it into camp as a 'fodder' arm to help relieve fatigue? Are we going to see some move for a UDFA QB to stash on the practice squad? I'm curious to see how this plays out fully.
  2. Exactly. Getting cute can possibly burn you in the long run. Sure, it would be nice if we could get more picks out of this. But at the end of the day, the Panthers traded up to #1 to get their guy, and there's no guarantee that the team they just traded that #1 with doesn't pick someone else like they'd though, but ends up picking the player that was originally wanted. It's just too much of a gamble to be certain. Don't fug around with it - Stick with #1 and get the player coveted, Panthers. Hopefully it's the right guy for the franchise for the next 10-15 years, and we knock this selection straight out of the ball park.
  3. How is that any different than the Wonderlic scores though? Both would demonstrate a form of intelligence processing, granted on differing facets, which can be a measurable standard to help a team in their decision on drafting a player. Unless there's something in the paywall article that's vastly different to the comments I've read here?
  4. Fair enough. I didn't read the whole thread and missed that. I was originally speaking to what that jackass Bayless was spewing, but to be fair to myself, also counterpointed what you had replied with. I still think calling it not a 'real interview' is still conjecture though. It's entirely possible that they had both Reich and Wilks as serious candidates down to the wire. It's also entirely possible that it was predetermined as you say, especially with the hiring of Reich's kid a month prior. It's even possible that her hire was a coincidence and had nothing to do with the coach decision as well, and she is the best person for her current job based on merit. I have no issue with your calling it shady looking. That happens all the time in the corporate world, with extra attention placed on a favorite candidate by the hiring manager. I just have a problem stating it as if it were a fact. Know one knows, and unless someone whistle-blows, no one will probably ever know. Will 100% agree with you that it probably isn't a good look though for the team - nepotism is always ugly, if it applies here. Just not sure what else could have been done, outside of holding off the hire date for his daughter to avoid any suspicion.
  5. That argument is pure conjecture though. No one can know what the other owners were thinking. The fact is that the Panthers were the only team to interview Wilks. This is undeniable, and an argument can be made (again, conjecture) that this shows he is not racist. I don't like or dislike Tepper.. I don't know the man personally, nor would I ever get the chance to. Couldn't tell you what he's like, but I'm also not going to assume he's racist because he didn't hire a guy either. I am okay with admitting there's a LOT of racial discrepancies when it comes to coaches, ownership, and QBs. There does need to be more equitable allocation of all those positions in the NFL, but when it's rich old white guys making most of the decisions, it's hard to make change. I am okay with admitting I like the Reich hiring. He was one of the coaches I banged the drum for back when he was first available. I'm happy we landed him, because I think he's a great coach and better than all others that are available right now that won't cost us draft picks (I greatly dislike Payton, btw.. dude's a schmuck). I am NOT okay with this last one... what else should they do? They followed the correct hiring procedure, brought in various guys who they thought might help them, and made a decision after vetting a LOT of folks. All of a sudden, because they didn't hire one of the candidates, they're being labeled as racist? Again.. what the actual fug?
  6. Wait.. so there's 31 teams out there with quite a few of them needing a new coach this year, and we're the only ones who actually gave him an interview, yet Tepper is a racist for not hiring him? What the actual fug?
  7. That was a great game, and of the two sides, the US looked the more dangerous throughout most of the game. Should be a huge confidence booster for the next one against Iran. Let's go get that win guys!
  8. Well, of course he will.. he's related to the legendary powerhouse David Gettis, right? (what do you mean, 'he isn't?')
  9. I've only watched once, and not with a deep-dive breakdown in mind, but wouldn't Luvu also mostly fall into this category? He seemed to play well from what I remember, or did he have his moments where he screwed up as well?
  10. Granted there's no full context from the original tweet provided, but it sounds to me like he doesn't want real fans in the stands that will and should hold him and the team accountable. Sounds more like he just wants to see sheeple out there. Sorry Rob, that's not how the world works. You get paid to do a job, and when you don't do it to the satisfaction of those who (indirectly) pay you, you face criticism. Get used to it or find another job.
  11. I'm just going with the hope here that due to the few weeks of injury, Boze just isn't back up to game speed yet, and they'll take the next few practices to get him there before he takes the starting center spot back. I figure, it's either we trust Campen or we don't, since he most likely suggests/decides the starting line up for his unit. Of course, he could always have just been OverRhuled (tm) here, but for a head coach that's most likely fighting for his job this year that would not only set a bad tone for the rest of the staff to hear, it would be a pretty nonsensical move not to listen to a guy with that much experience in his wheelhouse as Campen has. Admittedly, not outside the ballpark for our HC, but I'm optimistic that Rhule isn't quite that stupid.
  12. I think the idea is that the pick was wasted, since it could have gone to lineman of better quality than the low-rounders we dredged for and TMJ is 'always' hurt. Not saying I agree, just how I read it.
  13. Honest question as I'm curious: I don't get to listen in much, since I'm out of the area, but can any of his comments be more awkward than ones speaking of Ron Rivera's 'ample chest'? That poo was cringe-worthy, so I can't imagine Smitty being worse. Any examples of what is it that he says that's awkward?
  14. Just got a chance to watch the game, and it wasn't as bad as I'd thought it might be. It wasn't exactly stellar or pretty either, but for being our next level down against their starters for 2 Qs, we actually did decently well overall. It wasn't until Q4 that we started to look mostly incompetent, and I blame that mainly on our 4th string OL being manhandled (outside of Mays, 3rd string too really). So, I was okay with the results myself. I also just read the last ten pages or so of this thread, and I have to say, you guys are awesome for making me laugh so hard. The sheer amount of overreaction to a friggin' glorified scrimmage is priceless. Did the bottom of the roster look bad against a higher tier? Sure did. Are most of those guys going to be here in a few weeks? Nope, not likely. Of the ones that do remain, can they still get better by season's end by practicing throughout? Of course! So, relax.. worst case scenario is we stink the joint up again and there's an even higher probability that Rhule gets fired than ever before. Best case, we look good and make the playoffs and maybe beyond. Either way, we as fans have a good chance of being happier by next year, so getting bent out of shape now (again.. preseason) is a bit premature and a tad foolish. Let's just see how this plays out before jumping off a bridge or something - still way too early for that sky to be falling.
  15. That's just because they can't 1,000% see it, I guess.
  16. I see what you did there - nice one Don't you give us that false hope like that, don't you dare... (insert some insane mumbling about Jay-Z and seven years here)
  17. I think I'd read a few places that his deep ball miscues were mostly from throwing on the run and not setting his feet - totally coachable, and we now have a guy who can do that in McAdoo, so I'm not overly worried. He's a rook who will make mistakes that he can learn from, plus he can hit the weight room to add about 10 more pounds of muscle if we're genuinely worried about his size/frame/build. It's all in how he approaches his opportunity and either makes it work or doesn't pan out. I'm ok with Corral, and I can't say I would have felt the same with any other QB this draft.
  18. You know, as much as I raised a ruckus earlier, I also completely missed this part - My apologies and I agree. Since this is directly towards half of the insurance cost, then yes, there's absolutely no reason this shouldn't be paid to her.
  19. Sorry, but this isn't something you should just take advice on from strangers on a message board. It's too important in your own life and your kids' lives to do that. Google the heck out of the associated legislation. It's all out there on the internet and easily found. Only you can know what's best for you and your children. That said... Actually, this is incorrect - custody and support are separate and distinct from each other. Just like a parent can't automatically expect visitation simply because they pay money, the reverse also holds true. https://www.nccourts.gov/help-topics/family-and-children/child-custody#:~:text=A parent's custody rights do,in the child's best interests. Way to introduce your preconceived incorrect ideals into the discussion, which he doesn't even deserve. It's not cool to imply he doesn't want to take care of his children. If you'd noticed, he didn't say he wanted to hold on to the money because he's being vindictive or because he wants a new toy for himself. He said he thought about it in order to spend this money on doing fun things with his kids. The difference between directly providing fun/necessities himself versus having to hand money over for his ex to provide is zilch. It's still providing, and there's plenty of stories of the parent receiving the funds never explaining to their child that the other parent also helped provide, which can be a factor in the latter's relationship with the child deteriorating. Plenty of non-custodial parents want to have a good relationship with their kids, and try their best to take care of their obligations. However, at one time or another, they may not be able to no matter how hard they try. It's difficult to get to a job to continue providing, when you have no money left to fill up your car with pricy gas; not to mention no substantial money for food, rent for a place to live, etc. The State doesn't care, it only cares about one thing - the parent fulfilling their court-ordered responsibilities. There's plenty of non-custodial parents not living up to that, so I'm not oblivious that there are jerks out there who skip town, but automatically assuming it's the intent here to me is wrong. About the only thing I agree with is the statement that he should not worry what his ex has or hasn't. That, and he needs to get off social media for a while. It's inherently toxic to begin with, so including the emotions of a divorce and child disagreement will only increase any vitriol he might have, which could also affect his relationship with the children. This is very true, along with an earlier post stating $250 a month is extremely cheap. It is. However, if you factor in that she is making four times as much money, it may be that she might actually owe him money if it were to go to the DCSE. OP, I'd use this calculator provided by NC State (assuming you're in NC, of course) to get a rough idea of your circumstances, and see what monthly amount you should be paying. It might even show that you are actually owed money by her. It's not exact science, but it is a decent approximation of how things might play out, should the government get involved. https://ncchildsupport.ncdhhs.gov/ecoa/workSheetA.htm DCSE is a complete nightmare hassle, and there's a good chance this could all blow up in your face. My suggestion is to self-educate by researching your rights, responsibilities, and what's best for the kids at the links I've provided above. You don't need to be a lawyer or know one to understand these basics of the process, and if you actually do have questions, they also have a help line to call for more info. It's up to you to figure out how you want to play this out, and no one can help you decide what you are willing to risk, but it does help to be armed with facts and knowledge when making that decision. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry everyone, I don't normally preach post like this, but 'Father's Rights' is one of those things I feel strongly about, and I like to make sure information is being relayed that should help his relationship going forward.
  20. and pray the neck hasn't been badly warped from sitting in a basement for years... yikes! I never really got into LZ that much, and although I respect the heck out of them and Paige especially, I was always more of a Brian May fan. Though if you mixed his style and EVH, you'd produce one of my absolute favorites - Nuno Bettencourt. If anyone here hasn't heard of him, you should check out the YT below, as it's still one of the coolest things I've ever heard done on a guitar.
  21. Wait... isn't that title held by our own head coach already??
  22. So glad that I don't deal with that crap anymore. You don't have to scrape sunshine off the car windows...
  23. well, remember - we just don't see it. 1000%
