  1. To have a top 5 QB for the next 10 years, I would pay any price. If I could have paired up Peyton Manning with Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad for the cost of four 1st round picks, I'd have done it in a second. I firmly believe Watson is that kind of a talent.
  2. Pretty sure we could get Mac Jones in the 2nd round if push came to shove... maybe even 3rd. I don't hate the guy or anything but it would be nonsensical to take him that high, even if we liked him.
  3. I'm not really concerned with the cap hit in this scenario. Plus, it's possible to trade away some of that salary as well. I've seen it negotiated before. I mainly care about filling positions of glaring need with decent players instead of rookies or bottom feeders. Trading CMC could plug several other holes with some higher draft picks.
  4. Man I can't figure out the Lance love around here. He's a surefire bust as far as I'm concerned. If we get him I sure do hope I'm wrong.
  5. If the price is right, do it. I just don't consider running backs the commodities that they used to be. CMC is a stellar player, but as I've said before, oftentimes his most productive outings come as a result of us getting beaten into the dirt and him being the only guy we can think of to get the ball to. If trading one great player plugs up 2 or 3 holes with good players, it's worth it.
  6. Pitchforks. A semi-decent QB brings us back to Delhomme style mediocrity where a top-tier QB just never seems to fall in our laps. After suffering through this dumpster fire of a team the past few years it's time to get a franchise-altering signalcaller.
  7. I just cannot fathom why anyone would want to play for the Jets... That being said, if he went to the Dolphins we might be winners in that scenario. Houston would likely get Tua, which may discourage them from drafting a QB. Essentially, it'd free up a spot where a QB would have potentially been taken. We could luck up and actually have one of the top four guys there at our pick.
  8. Do I have to make a case for Wilson? Cause I really don't want to. Happy to make some cases against him... namely, 7 years of age difference. "Drafting" Watson now you are still getting a player whose best days are likely ahead of him. Given his age, I would consider him a draft pick, frankly. Watson could be our Favre. A guy who was drafted by one team, but becomes known through the history books as an MVP and champion for another.
  9. I have news everyone. I think the Panthers will try to trade for Deshaun Watson, and I speculate that it will be costly to obtain him.
  10. I think they need to do everything possible to keep him.
  11. If Efe Obada was a stock, I would be buying low, because I think he's going to break out soon.
  12. I think people kind of forget the situation with Kalil. As trash as he was, wasn't he like the ONLY guy on the market? I could be wrong but I don't think we really missed out on someone better (who we had a chance of signing anyway)
  13. For the right price (not a first round pick) I'd give it a go. You never know. That being said, as I've been clear about, I'd rather see us cut off the gangrenous limb that is mediocre QB play, and just lock up an elite player at the position finally, no matter the cost.
  14. Here's what happens when you have an "ok" QB.... You get a guy who gets you just enough wins each year to ensure you NEVER get to draft an elite signal caller. THAT is EXAAAAACTLY why the Panthers have been middling for 25 years. How many super bowls would the Panthers have won during the Delhomme era if you'd replaced Delhomme with Peyton Manning? I'm thinking 2 - 3 at least. The trade off for going up and grabbing him would have been the unstoppable Jason Peters, and maybe Rashard Anderson (if you extrapolate out trading a few first rounders to go up and get him)... First rounders are great, but I think this board greatly overvalues them. They're still rookies, and there is still a TON of uncertainty surrounding them, as we've seen from Shaq and Vernon Butler.
  15. History hasn't been kind to teams that have traded up to grab a QB. I am completely willing to acknowledge this fact. I'm also willing to state that only Lawrence and Wilson are worth trading up for. All that being said, we are doomed to mediocrity if we kick the tires on a mediocre free agent or later round selection, unless we just get lucky and land a diamond in the rough.
  16. Have you seen the QBS coming up in 2022? We don't have a choice BUT to mortgage the future. This team is going to be middling indefinitely if we don't get a quality signal caller.
  17. Why would you leave the 2nd most dysfunctional franchise in the league to go to the most dysfunctional franchise in the league?
