  1. I actually believe he would play for a little lower than that, possibly $4.5 for two years. It is said he really likes Raleigh and NC in general, and he really likes Rod and the team.
  2. Don't sleep on this possibility: Nino back to the Canes!! Oh, and the one thing the Canes have going for them with regards to Meier is we don't have to ask SJ to retain salary so we wouldn't have to give up "as much." NJ would have to ask SJ to retain some salary or find a third team to help them land Timo. Either way, NJ would have to pay more than we would.
  3. I think Brady was handcuffed by Rhule like most of the organization. When he was the sacrificial lamb and fired the offense got tons worse. It stayed bad even with McAdoo being handcuffed by Rhule. It did get better once Rhule was shown the door. Didn't love McAdoo as our "rockstar" OC hire, but it was obvious Rhule had way too much say in everything around here. Brady will get another chance and put in a better situation he will do fine. Heck, if he was on Reich's staff he would do really well.
  4. Svech is just..... so Svech! He is so young, as are a majority of our best players. They should only get better!!
  5. I believe the Sharks will want a 1st, 2nd, and one of Jarvis or KK. I say we should counter with a 1st, 2nd, and one of our D prospects (would like to see LaJoie get a chance). The draft picks are in different years. If they absolutely will not move off wanting Jarvis or KK, I would offer a 1st, Jarvis (very reluctantly), and a 3rd since they are getting Jarvis. It's a war for Meier and it's going to take us giving up something we probably don't want to.
  6. No to Kane, he is hurt and the Rags even went a different way than Kane. I agree that Meier for better or worse (in terms of what we would have to give up) is the best things we could do. Still think Toews could be a good move, just not sure of his cost and would rather go all in on Meier after that debacle last night. Really, Rod needs to go the f*@k off on the boys for that crap last night. I hope he did. This team is way too talented to lose like that.
  7. Not saying that this was the staff to do it under, but did Corral work hard studying film, defenses, his own past tape so that he could improve while not being able to physically work out? Hell, he should have been in the film room with Kuechly picking his brain about how he could read what an offense was going to do before they did it. Then use that type of knowledge to study current NFL defenses. That thing between the ears can't always make up for a lack of natural talent, but definitely can raise your level a notch or two.
  8. Yep, all of this. For the shoulder it's all about scar tissue being allowed to form and not rushing back. You are still never the same.
  9. I think the Canes are zeroing in on Toews. He can play 2C and be more of a scoring threat than KK. He also plays a very good 2 way game. I also read where the Canes were talking to the Canucks about Horvat, but wanted to talk extension before making any kind of offer. After seeing what the Canucks got from NJ and his extension I am glad we didn't go there.
  10. I don't see Detroit letting Larkin go, and I don't think Larkin wants to leave Motown. Either way it would take a lot to get Larkin unless he cratered his trade value by saying he wouldn't be signing with the Red Wings due to negotiations going south. He isn't that kind of guy. Personally, I don't think you "give up the farm" for him. I think the Canes may be the most serious about acquiring Toews. He is a Rod type of center, plays a good two way game and needs to be on a team competing for something. He isn't having a great year in Chicago, but who is? I think the cost would be relatively "cheap," but probably hinges on the Blackhawks retaining some salary. How much they retain will set the price for him. I don't think Kane really wants to play here, but I could be wrong.
  11. How does anyone see Stroud falling to 9? Have I missed some sort of news on him?
  12. No way you can prevent a coach from being able to interview for a "better" position, and even if you could you would never even bring it up when you are trying to land the best DC available in Evero. This is a GREAT get for the Panthers! Hope springs eternal!
  13. Is this John Elway and Josh Allen's nephew? I really don't want the Panthers using all their draft capital to move up because it would take almost everything we have. Those are the consequences of being a middling to below average NFL team. I believe AR will be there at 9 and as many questions as I have about him, his ceiling may be higher than any of the others in the draft. If the FO does its due diligence and Reich and unnamed OC and QB coach are onboard with thinking he can develop into an NFL QB then let's go.
  14. Well I was completely wrong about the boys being tired and maybe coming out flat against the Sabres. I will continue this trend if the Canes will keep proving me wrong.
  15. I hope the guys play hard so they can get a day off (which they'll probably get anyways unless they look like dogwater), but I wouldn't be surprised if we look slow tonight. We've played some really tough games and have had to come from behind quite a bit lately so on the back end of 2 in a row I am not expecting the Canes A game. That being said, they have definitely defied my assumptions in games where they came from 2-3 goals down and also when we had a revolving door at goalie so I don't put it past them to shut out the Sabres and keep going strong. #LetsGoCanes #PleaseDontGetDownByMultipleGoalsAgain
  16. I read more and Rhule is set to make MORE at Nebraska (those poor fools) than he did with the Panthers. All this offset salary BS is a money grab from Rhule that also probably benefited Nebraska as well as the Big 10's revenue payments will probably just keep increasing as time goes on. Yes, Tepper signed him to that contract but Rhule is trying to extract more money out of the Panthers than is reasonable. I hope he gets his ass handed to him.
  17. and the arbiter will take his agreement with Nebraska and the fact that his salary is heavily deferred to the later years of his contract into accountant. Also, if his contract with Nebraska is full guaranteed I don't see him winning anything other than the difference between what he would have made in his last season as Panthers coach vs. what he will be making or is guaranteed at Nebraska. Rhule probably thinks Tepper will just cut him a deal for a few million. It's a scumbag move, but the rich only want to be richer.
  18. @WelshPanther Your range of emotions in this thread is hilarious! Gotta keep the faith brother!
  19. Wilks wasn't considered for any other HC positions that are open. He isn't seen as a HC anywhere else in the league. I really wish him the best, but I think he's more suited as either a DC (which I still question) or an Assistant Head Coach. Reich isn't a sexy hire, but I will support him and hope he puts together a really good staff.
  20. I understand the whole appeal of attending an outdoor hockey game, especially in NC; but I can't say I would want to sit in the nosebleeds or really anywhere I couldn't see the action well. It will be interesting to see if NC can get one of those upper 60 / low 70 degree February days!
  21. Reserve a slice for me. Although the memes are good!
  22. Let's enjoy our W tonight and not look or think too far ahead....I don't want to go to sleep thinking about all that!
  23. Yeah, as long as Necas keeps playing like this. If Jarvis levels off that may help us a little. A "prove it" bridge deal for him??
  24. Alright, everyone give each other some victory pie. Talk to you next game hopefully!
  25. Necas really bringing it this year. He has the potential to be right up there with Aho and Svech. His skating and ice vision are very, very good and it looks like he has really worked on his shot too!
