why should he? He is a rookie HC. He has an entire team to worry about. And an entire new staff to worry about. And a new offense to be installed that he will be the playcaller of. Canales has his own things to get straight before the season. I'm just not buying in that Canales is going to be spending unique team with Bryce Young and fixing him in a tiny window. Frankly, that sounds like a poor use of his time. is that why he was hired? I think that is just spin to a large degree. No one interviewed our GM or HC. If he was legit QB guru......half the league would have wanted him or shown interest. I'm just not a buyer. People giving Canales credit for the Seattle machine just being that IMO. And Baker being Baker. And his O was far from impressive last year. I like his energy. I like what he could potentially do culture wise.

Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?
CRA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
well Reich pretty bluntly said a meh vet QB had basic downfield plays installed for him for the week that Bryce didn't have. Reich also said that an old and unremarkable Andy Dalton being inserted on 4th down presented a much greater threat than Bryce Young (the #1 overall pick we mortgaged our future with). Frank was a safe coaching pick off Rhule. Bryce Young doesn't have the NFL tools for a safe coach to even be that. That's the 2024 story. Bryce can't make the throws. Bryce can't sit in a traditional pocket. NFL defenses know that. The limitations are pretty glaring despite whatever strengths to his game may exist. Bryce couldn't do anything to change what defenses were getting away with. He just played right into it. -
Per Cam Newton, Kirk Cousins has six 6️⃣ games to prove himself

Cousins is 3-0 in the Tepper era vs us. 0-2 in the Richardson era -

I don't think there is anyway Bryce Young can stink....and remain the starting QB past this year. NFL history of late strongly goes against that. Then you got Tepper as the ice cream on top. -

I mean, in reality, Frank Reich wasn't functionally simply because Carolina of late brings everyone down in the gutter. Reich was a functional and safe coach. They seemed to intentionally go that route after the Rhule era. I mean, everyone bought into the all star staff hype for a reason. Because they weren't Rhule college know nothings. that's not praise of Reich. He is old and out dated. But Frank quickly turned from a safe option to a bad option becuase of how unique Bryce is/was. -

sure you can. Two things can be true. And neither are very ideal things. Ideally, you would want a QB that didn't' have a lot of limitations and doesn't need a unique O for himself. And ideally you want a HC that is adaptive vs being overly committed to what he does. -
I think Cohen is here for 3rd down/receiving work more so than special teams

Wonder if he couldn’t get 0 because of old Burns jersey inventory that is out there right now

Aren’t we just coping and defending whatever the Panthers do… We have a coach that runs an O that doesn’t fit Bryce (our #1 overall pick). We got a HC playcaller. We got no experience at OC. We got Jim Caldwell advising it all. We got Tepper. Now which season am I talking about?? seems like the definition of insanity. -
they are both ideally early down runners. So they are the same, as in the role they are occupying the same role/purpose for a team.

Horn or Penny

should of just kept this dude. I mean, he actually can play 90s era football. Canales had the worst rush O and ran into fewer loaded boxes than almost every team in the entire NFL
-
2 RBs likely aren’t going to be ready for camp loads. And you can’t put too much on Hubbard who is the best RB we got going into the season.

I mean, Watson was the better at Clemson QB. And Watson was a dang good NFL QB before things went sideways. He was perennial pro bowl QB in Hou. Not being Watson out the gate doesn’t make him Daniel Jones tier. That’s a bit harsh lol But Trevor was overhyped coming in. He is physically a lab built QB. Not between the ears lol. He still plays like college Trevor
-
Trevor was playing through a ton of different injuries in year 3 though. Which impacted a lot. Probably shouldn’t have been on the field often but they were trying to sneak into the playoffs. But even averaging things out… its 65%, 4000+ yards, 27 total TDs and 8.5 win season. Which doesn’t t seem realistic for Young

I didn't click on the link....but it says up front on the title it's a fantasy football perspective. and yeah, I would think Brooks wouldn't have a great fantasy outlook at all this year. Hurt. Eased in to a crowded backfield......on a bad team.
-
our entire backfield is JAGs to date.
-
he hasn't returned a kick in a half decade and didn't even log a dozen before that.

I'd like Canales if he was just going to be the HC and he went out and hired a real experienced OC to do that job. I like his rah-rah ways. But Canales is calling our O. I think it will be his O. It's last year on repeat IMO to a large extent. I think there probably is more synergy there given Canales was at least able to bring his dude but still...
-
I don't think this changes much. They just are throwing another body into the mix. Brooks is coming off an ACL Cohen is still an unknown working himself into a return as far as we know Hubbard/Sanders are basically the same dude.
-
maybe we shouldn't of hired the dude that had the worst rush attack in the NFL in his only year as an OC if that is what we seek to be. And Tampa ran into weaker boxes than most of the league and still was horrible.

Tom Brady is totally cool with being roasted and people shitting all over him, his wives, family, etc......but goes all Will Smith on a frankly lightweight Bob Kraft joke? Big picture, Brady and Bledsoe seem like assclowns in reality IMO. Those jokes can't mask it. Thought both of them actually came off unlikable when they got their moments on stage.
