  1. because he's already being paid not to play. once he is being paid TO play, it changes the situation.
  2. there will always be 2nd / 3rd rnd dudes that end up being studs. I agree that all things considered, the emphasis on WR was a bit of an odd one, given the weakness on OL and what was available. But... BPA etc... ah well. We NEED to fix OL, though.
  3. yup. how many times have we seen the same cute play run week after week, just because it worked the first time we ran it? darnold blows, maybe he's why we can't do poo, but man, it sure feels like we aren't doing ANYTHING to help him anymore.
  4. I'll be tuning in to see our defense beat the crap out of Matt Ryan (at least in the first half), and see if Darnold descends another step on the Pickles Ladder.
  5. 3rd rounders are not necessarily going to be exceptional starters out of the gate. The weird 2nd round guard grade thing confuses the poo out of me tho. Hindsight being what it is, I wish we'd gone a different direction with our 2nd round too... or maybe just not awarded Robby a massive contract... but yea, hindsight...
  6. I think its too early to draw a conclusion on Christensen but I'd not pass an elite LT prospect for his potential development, at least right now. While he was ... not good in his first start, there were some positives to build on, and I think tht he can develop significantly more, if only to good backup at tackle. How he was rated as a 2nd round guard is beyond me... maybe he'll bulk up in the off season?
  7. The fact we landed a former first rounder we were VERY high on and an all-pro in early in the season (along with an unfortunate injury) makes the Horn decision look worse than it did at the time for sure. I think Horn could be one of the best CBs in the league, so its hard for me to be down on the pick... But I am really not excited about the Henderson pick atm, in part because I think these guys are nowhere near as good as they believe at rehabbing talent. Just wish they weren't so down on Slater's fuging arms or whatever it was.
  8. No kidding. On the bright side I think that it's an understatement to say we finally addressed cornerback. I hope we put the same enthusiasm into our OL next offseason...
  9. the NFL also doesn't need to take action while HOU isn't playing him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was put on the list as soon as he practiced with his new team... The situation changes immediately when a new team might play him
  10. but think of the draft value we'll get with our haul of 2nd and/or 3rd round picks instead of our 1st!11!1!1 This draft will be interesting to see how Fitt/Rhule address the gaping holes in our offense.
  11. I actually think I would. a 5th rounder for a decent backup? Sure. He's never gonna be a franchise guy but holy hell will he be a better backup than PJ.
  12. Darnold has terrible decision making. And he's too slow even when he makes the right decision, causing windows to close. There are other offensive problems and maybe he could some day have been servicable if we didn't have this bad an OL... But that isn't reality. He's done.
  13. I think certain labels are unfairly used on people but there's gotta be some better examples of the double standard than Darnold... There's no possible way you could call Darnold fat and lazy. About all he is good for is actually putting in effort, it just doesn't show anywhere because he's bad. A huge portion of the posters on this forum have already concluded Darnolds problem is between the ears and he isn't making decisions fast enough and is just a bad player... He's the same guy he's always been unfortunately...
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if that Dallas game looked a bit different with him... But boy has that ship sailed.
  15. Jeremy Chinn? YGM is underrated here for that matter. And Terrace with a real QB should be great. But the issue is that Tua doesn't seem like our answer at QB either.
  16. Id rather keep a 2nd/3rd than trade for Tua. He doesn't look bad but I don't think he looks like a franchise qb
  17. Not sure if you heard yet but the Dolphins have a deal in place... Just some issues to work out... Let me see if I can find you the link I do wonder if our entrance into the discussion has caused a mad back and forth between HOU, MIA and CAR.
  18. He's been one of the worst wideouts in the NFL this year. Darnold isn't helping but he just looks checked out, and has for weeks. We have the most drops of any NFL team, but Darnold has declined so steadly the last few weeks that we also have some of the most bad throw percentages.
  19. I just want to emphasize how relative these statements are about Teddy vs Darnold. Yes, Teddy better than Darnold. Teddy might *throw* the ball on time, but if that wounded duck would reach a receiver on time is anyone's guess.
  20. Ahh. It may be the other team pushing to get him this week so he gets a full week of practice next.
  21. I respect him... But was thinking first round level. True maybe he is there for a 2nd but oof. That would be rough, his presence is sorely missed.
  22. They may think the height of his value will be now, when teams are desperate, the QB class isn't shaping up great, his legal troubles are in a lul, and he hasn't missed a full season.
  23. Well I doubt they want our LBers... And would they give us a 1st for an injured CMC? I think it'll be someone for one of their non first rounders we are trying to send. Maybe somebody for their 2nd or 3rd that we will send along.
  24. Eagles being involved.... Makes me wonder if we are sending them a receiver or something for a draft pick to use in the trade. They're desperate for receiving help right?
