After 1 day of FA, do you feel better about the defense?
Waldo replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hard For the D to not improve from historically bad. It remains to be seen by how much. Spending that kind of money and still being in the 20s at the end of the year would be failure. I like Jackson and the nose tackle. The rest could be good or meh or complete arse. Put up or get fired. I'm done with unearned hope and hype until it shows up. -
Fans were raving about his moves last year and it was way more misses than hits. They have to prove this year is different but feels the same to me. Thankfully they couldn't get the too expensive signing this year. He also leans into projects on which hasn't served him well. He also blew the draft last year early that fans raved about that. Prove it or it's just hot air even if it's according to plan.

Just proves Jackson wasn't and those talks went to nowheresville

Anyone Seen the ESPN Projection Guide? *Spoiler* Panthers Suck
Waldo replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
They didn't even take out Brooks which is lazy. I have no problem with stats or analysis. The data has to be solid and I'm being lazy assuming there are more discrepancies if they missed that. It's also a weird time to run it with freeeagency and the draft not being finished. I didn't mean to imply the idea is bad, just a weird time to roll it out with some obvious discrepancies included. -
Steelers trade for metcalf. $150million. 2nd rd pick

I guess Pitt is tired of a slow decline and went all in on speeding it up. I wonder who they have on their wish list at QB? -

Sucking is the new normal so this is another lazy take that's still true. Will they be picking in the top 10 again next offseason? Yup. -
Panthers sign Jaycee Horn to $100 million dollar deal

I wonder if he will ever play half a season again -
I missed that lol

Beast mode said that behind doors Rus was made the star and the other guys hated it. That play was just the rest of us finding out how they roll. Money didn't kill that D, that was the breaking point and guys just wanted out. Lynch literally laughed in Carroll's face after that loss. That's how Carroll ran his team and why it wasn't a dynasty.
-
Regular season he is a winner and the numbers show that. He hasn't been a real contender in years. That's what I'm talking about. Again even slightly diminished he is still a winner. He isn't a Reid though and that's the difference. Reid is literally and figuratively hungry and that's why he will always leave Carroll behind in comparison of their careers.
-
Except Beastmode came out later and said what was going on behind closed doors. They were letting Rus run around like the golden boy and the other guys freaking hated it. He allowed and incuraged it. I linked the video a while ago but it's out there. I think he is fine with doing it his way. It's served him well but at the same time I think that is really all that stops him from making SB runs anymore.
-
I don't think so. Even then he was still a good HC but just not a great as he was before that.
-
He hasn't been the same coach since IMO. Still trying to prove it was the right call. Even with all of that he will still get to .500. I think he has one decent year and then falls into the same rut again. Maybe he will get challenged more from ownership and whoever there GM is.
-
He's a better coach. It's not really debatable. I'm not expecting a successful run for him this time. Maybe he does it again but I just can't see it.

I was comparing him to Ron. Seattle has to change everything if they want to do it their way. Also ownership changed in 2018 so I have no idea what they are doing now vs the distant ownership model they had going for years. Following Carroll up there was always going to be an uphill fight. I don't think he is willing to change after the last few years and now this trade. Dude already proved he could do it, I'm just not seeing enough adaptability so therefore the Ron comparison again.
-
Seattle is doing everything to get away from the old regime and Carroll wants to get it back together. I bet he pulls a less successful Ron in DC. Either Seattle is trying to make a move or they just didn't care as with all the other moves. Going to be interesting seeing which way but having both teams going so hard to prove they were right in that breakup is hilarious. It's like the backlash of having such hands off owners and so long of stability under one dominant HC.

Carrol wants to continue proving Geno isn't going to win a SB.

Mike Garafolo: Panthers are in on DK Metcalf trade
Waldo replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sure fits the MO. Seahawks cast off, big move they shouldn't make and won't help with the biggest issues. I get calling but being all in just makes it seem like Scott is still around. -
Some of those teams are already planning on the 2026 draft vs going hard with most of those guys.
-
They literally traded a #1 and haven't come close to another one since. With the guys they have taken and are looking good at its fair to ask because it sure seems like they don't care or know what one looks like.

Neglect that D again and that should put them into firing range by the end of the year. I have no idea why they want to bet on the offense carring a terrible D but that's what they want apparently.
