Harbaugh and Tomlin are both dinosaurs in today's NFL. Their approach doesn't work anymore, you need actual scheme geniuses to be a head coach in the NFL like Shanahan, McVay, Johnson, etc.

We know what Jameis, Howell and Minshew are - not a long term option at all. Davis Mills is interesting but such a small sample size. Even Kyle Allen had a nice run of games once upon a time. There's no proven commodity for starting level QB you can build around. Malik Willis is the only one I would try to bring in for legitimate competition but he'll probably want to be a guaranteed starter somewhere else this offseason.

I am definitely opposed to a long term contract unless he removes all doubt next year he can carry this franchise but the 5th year option is logical.
