All the feels. I can’t wait to have  pride in the team again like we did during this run. Such a magical time.

We’ll see each other in 2029, after the Jay-Z run has faded, and Tepper admits he was wrong. Sadly, might still take more time to get back to even playoffs after the next regime picks up the trash left behind.

A week ago I would 100% said Nay, but I ended up putting Yay. If for any reason just because I believe the Panthers should take a shot. If he plays poorly, or even mediocre, take another shot next year. Willis, Corral are also options — much more athletically gifted options.

I've already stated I think Rhule is going to take a quarterback, as I think it's the only way he can save his job. If he hits on a quarterback it'll be very difficult to fire him.

Whatever the Panthers do they need to make sure not to oversell themselves on the pick. That's how you end up with the next Blake Bortles.

This type of thinking is how you end up like the Jets.  “Ah yeah let’s just toss a pick out for Sam Darnold”.  Then a couple years later, you have the same absolute poo team, but you’re somehow able to swindle a historically bad head coach into a trade for him.  Tossing fuging darts blindly at draft picks is how you ruin franchises.

Lmao all these guys hating on Pickett… why? Hes by far the best QB in the draft and actually looks a lot like Joe Burrow

Gotta save this as one of the most freezing cold takes of all-time.  This will not age well.  If Pickett (on any team) ever makes the playoffs as a starting QB, I’ll chop off my left hand.  If he ever makes a SUPER BOWL, I’ll let you chop off my right.

  4. Honestly, what a great draft pick Fletch was.  Created good competition in camp, so we could resign JJ.  JJ just hadn’t put enough consistency on tape during his All-Pro, Pro-Bowl, 13 year career.   Rhule knows what he’s doing.  Tepper should just grant Rhule a coach for life contract at this point.  Just like Jay-Z, he’ll have us relevant in 7 years

What does Linderbaum pinning the best RT in the NFL show? That the handwringing over his size is uninformed at best. For one, he's literally the size of an NFL center with room to build mass. Second, with a 53-10 record as a heavyweight wrestler he clearly has no issue going head-to-head against other large (or larger) individuals. Third, he bullied the best RT in the NFL. Fourth, how can you be concerned about him getting a flag while at the same time possibly talking up trading down for Penning?

If Wirfs looked bigger than Linderbaum, which he should since he's 6'5", that attests even more to Linderbaum's ability to out leverage and win vs. bigger opponents.

I'm a huge fan because I've been watching him since last season when I had him as a sleeper day 3 pick for the Panthers (search for the earliest post on the Huddle for "Linderbaum." Is me! 👀). I'm a big fan of the center position and prefer OL to have a wrestling background so that they know how to deal with DL that have great hands (ie: Kawann Short) along with an innate sense for leverage. He rocketed up to the top offensive lineman in the draft. Duke Mayweather called the kid OL1 for this draft (and called Rashawn Slater OL1 for last year's draft). I've watched more Iowa games in the last two years than I have in my entire life to see that the kid is legit.

I don't buy into the whole "That's too high to pick a center!!!" nonsense because only one player touches the ball every single play and that's the center. He's has to get that ball to the QB, the control tower of the offense. He has to call blocking assignments while being on the same page of said QB. He's got to be strong enough to be able to deal with nose tackles weighing over 320lbs while also being quick enough to get up to the second level and de-cleat linebackers. There was an article years ago that I am desperately trying to find that showed that, statistically, teams that lost their centers faired worse than teams that lost their starting QB. However, I do recognize that a lot of other folks do subscribe to the idea that it's too high for a center so I'm very much okay with trading down to acquire additional picks and the best OL in the draft. To add, the center is the second most expensive position on the OL after OT. Having a guy on a rookie deal will allow us to have a strong line at a fraction of the cost of what other teams have to pay.

He might be taller than one of the listed centers, but he's the same height as five of them and only an inch shorter than the other five. Don't you Matt Rhule this! 😛

The only offensive lineman I'm near as excited for is Ikem Ekwonu. He is a friggin monster.

I agree with most of what you’re saying, but the wrestling aspect of all of this does not support the case to draft him.  Wrestling - not the same as football, and the ability to use his “leverage”, was “low man wins” - yes a football carryover, but by no means boosts his draft capital (no matter who he pinned)

im actually shocked ben Mcadoo signed up for this poo show. we could have done worse

If he had any other OC offers, best believe he’d take him.  Much like Darnold, we’re competing against no one to get them.  McAdoo is almost as clownish as Rhule

Like trading away our future b/c WIN NOW MODE AT 3-0 and giving away a receiving option for a project corner that basically failed and has no enthusiasm for football only to ride the bench for the next two months?

I hear ya, and I hate losing those picks. Henderson did show a bit of promise towards end of year. He was a former 1st rounder, so if he can develop, that won’t look as bad

uhh Mike Groh is pretty legit... He was a part of the Eagles SB winning team

Groh will very quickly lose the momentum of “legitimacy” if he works under Rhule.  Easily will set him back 3-5 years, if not more.  This is a sinking ship with a certified buffoon at the helm - unless you’re desperate and have no other options, smart coaches will stay away.

  9. Sad anecdote.  Nothing about Rhule’s past or present experience is very impressive, which makes it even more infuriating this dude is the 5th highest paid coach in the league.   He’s a true embarrassment to our franchise.  At least Ron had previous success in San Diego and was a good player in the NFL.  He clearly gave a damn at least

  10. OP lost me with “Tepper is an alpha male”…. I mean sure, he’s been a very successful hedge fund manager, which I guess makes him an alpha?? It certainly does NOT make him qualified to turn around the dumpster fire he created through Rhule.  First step is firing Rhule, but this supposed “alpha male”, hasn’t even done that yet

Panthers should force Rhule's buddy Snow out, and hire Flores as Defensive Coordinator immediately. Flores is a top notch DC. With the young talent here Flores would have a dominant unit.

Nah, Flores should take Rhule’s job.  It’s insane how much better of a coach he is.  Sadly, Flores most likely will have better options, even IF we somehow fired Rhule’s clown ass

Even putting Cam in for 1 handoff to a TE or whatever was disrespectful. I do agree Rhule is trying to force his decisions into success. Like running Chuba who is super average on 80% of the preseason drives, then they pick up Abdullah off the street with no knowledge of the playbook and it's basically a wash. I still don't understand why he wants to force a couple of guys into success and at the same time not accept the fact that BC and Deonte Brown were better options on OL all year long. I've had some crazy bosses that just didn't like certain people for no particular reason before tho so maybe he's just that kinda person, or so stubborn and in his own ego he can't accept admitting being wrong even if it's to the detriment of the team

He’s a trash coach that’s why. Surrounding himself with Baylor/Temple products is an embarrassment.   Robbie Anderson yesterday putting blame at the QB’s (which yes Darnold sucks), but also having an outrageous drop average, is an immediate cuttable offense.  This franchise has turned into a joke under Rhule.  It won’t be done until he’s gone

SMH, do people really want us to go FA splurging in 2022? Such a stupid strategy considering we are a bottom dwelling talented team. Splurging is left to teams who already have winning records and want to win a SB. We are poo and are so far away from contending that our ceiling is .500 if we splurge and then we really will be stuck in mediocrity for a bunch more years.

Exactly. Unless we hire a new coaching staff, we need to spend next to nothing in free agency.   Nothing will fix Darnold and Rhule, and I actually mean nothing.  Can take the best linemen from around the league, and they’ll still find a way to be below .500

Some contracts that we can work on to bring this years cap number down further:

Shaq Thomas can be cut for 5.8 Million in cap relief, or restructured  (more likely) to also save us 6 million this year.

Dunno who Shaq Thomas is, but if you’re talking about cutting Shaq Thompson, you must be bigtime on the 0-17 bandwagon.

    you all are clowns.

what would you expect him to say? remember all of you were probably blowing Darnold after week 3.

Found Rhule’s account.  Only a certified clown would defend Rhule’s response here.   Clown on, buddy
